We are helping Transport for NSW transform the way Sydney’s Central Station operates. 🚊👷🏼

Earlier this year, Next Rail (a partnership between Transport for NSW, John Holland and Jacobs) completed trackwork installation and commissioned a new signalling system at Central Station as part of the More Trains, More Services program.

The team took possession of all tracks in Sydney Yard and worked around-the-clock during a special six-day shutdown. Check out the timelapse below. 👇🏼

This milestone marks the completion of 27 weekends of work at Central Station, during which the team completed extensive track reconditioning, scissor crossover installations, civil work and new overhead wiring.

A big shout out to everyone involved for their hard work and dedication over the past three years!

We’re excited to announce that the first section of pipeline for the Upper South Creek Advanced Water Recycling Centre has now been installed 👷💧

Three sections of PVC (plastic) pipe were laid on John Street, Cabramatta, marking a critical milestone in the delivery of treated water and wastewater for the Western Sydney Growth Area.

Just over 40km of new pipeline will be installed for the project between Lansdowne and Wallacia. This will consist of two separate pipelines - a treated water line, installed using steel pipe, which will carry high-quality treated water to the Nepean River and a brine pipeline, installed using PVC pipe, which will transfer waste product to our existing wastewater network at Landsowne.

This is exciting progress in the delivery of this project, and we’ll keep you posted as construction progresses!

There’s no better time to have a chat about what’s going on inside your head then while someone’s cropping what’s on top.

At Sydney Gateway, our team has enlisted the services of the Walkabout Barber to provide mobile barber services while encouraging open and honest conversations on mental health.

It’s a classic ‘win-win’ – helping our people deal with any wellbeing challenges they might be facing while providing an opportunity for a First Nations business to participate in the project.

To date, the Sydney Gateway team has spent more than $23 million with 32 Aboriginal businesses delivering services such as spoil transfer, plant hire, traffic control, cranage, cleaning, security and training.

In fact, we’ve already exceeded the NSW Government’s Aboriginal Participation in Construction (APiC) targets with 30 per cent of the project still to deliver.

Meet Georgie Cleveland – Commercial Manager on Stage 3 of the Gold Coast Light Rail Project. 👋

When she was young, Georgie dreamed of being a laywer. Fast forward, and her dream has come true.

After some time in private practice in commercial litigation and wills and estates, Georgie switched to construction law at the suggestion of her then-boss.

Since joining the Gold Coast Light Rail project, she hasn’t looked back.

“I like to see a project through from start to finish and I like the fact that there is a tangible asset at the end of delivery. Each project is unique. You get the opportunity to restart every couple of years and experience new projects, teams, places, and delivery methods. It's always refreshing, never boring, never the same.”

Strength in numbers and expertise! 👥🦺💯

When our NSW overhead wiring team needed to deliver a mammoth weekend of possession work on three projects across Sydney’s rail network earlier this month – they knew who to call! 📞

Drawing on the strengths and capabilities of our highly skilled overhead wiring teams – based around Australia and New Zealand – the NSW team called on their counterparts in Victoria.

In total a team of around 60 people – including the 12 overhead wiring specialists from Victoria – delivered the Penrith OHW modernisation project, and Bullaburra and Linden maintenance works.

So, what did they accomplish in a single weekend?

✔️ Two critical lifts over Penrith Station including a 30 metre section of steelwork that was lifted and installed over the platform area

✔️ Installed 65 steelwork structures

✔️ Installed foundations and removed ageing structures

✔️ Replaced 1.6km of overhead wiring

✔️ More than 25 machines on site to deliver the work including 18 hi-rail machines.

Our ability to draw on our skilled people from across the country, and collaborate closely with Sydney Trains, resulted in a highly successful weekend.

These works help to create a more reliable network for commuters. Well done to all the team involved!

Elevated engineering at its finest! 😱

High above Footscray Road in Melbourne’s west, a 1400-tonne launching gantry crane is hard at work putting the finishing touches on an elevated road as part of the West Gate Tunnel Project.

The 40-metre-high, 116-metre-long gantry has been hoisting massive 100-tonne pieces of concrete roadway into the air and stitching them together.

When completed, this road will give drivers more choices getting to the city and northern suburbs from the west – relieving congestion and slashing travel times.

Works will now focus on the fit-out including bridge barriers, the new and modern freeway management system, asphalting and ramps that will connect the elevated road to CityLink.
