There's been excitement lately following the news that St. Louis could get an NBA expansion team next year. A lot of team names reference their city's history, so I figure we could too🤷. Introducing the St. Louis Bricklayers🏀. You can call us "The Bricks" for short😉

POV: You moved to the STL burbs mid 20th century and the department stores moved with you.

Comparing train access ~130 years ago with today in SE Missouri. Shoutout to towns where I've lived that had a station once upon a time

Some light reading ahead...
Additionally, worker productivity has increased nearly 500% since the 40 hour/5 day work week was enacted in 1938.* It's time to level the privilege of leisure that this productivity creates.

The unprecedented transfer of wealth from passing Baby Boomers (AKA the Bucket Boom) to their heirs is shaping up to be a massive missed opportunity for economic justice.

And help NBAC bring this little lady home from Brooklyn to Sauget!
Additionally 75% of removal requests are for fiction books (https://pen.org/report/banned-usa-growing-movement-to-censor-books-in-schools/ ) They probably just missed this one because it was in the wrong section;)

The polls are closed, and the results were are tie (21 votes each) for The Primary Care Crocs and Snake Inside of a Box! So, I did exactly what the St. Louis Board of Elections would do if an aldermanic race resulted in a tie--A COIN FLIP (so democratic!) Heads its PCCs tails its Snake. And the winner is...
My very own 6th Ward's Snake Inside of a Box! (I swear it wasn't rigged). PCC's likable personality surely would have made her a good champ. But, give Snake inside of a Box a chance...and he may surpise you😉
Polls close at 7pm! Primary Care Crocs and Snake Inside of a Box(es) are tied 😮....and I already did a recount.
Election Day is here, and here are your 14 City of St. Louis --Redistricting-- Ward Mascots! (just based on whatever I think the outline of the new ward looks like🤔).
AFTER YOU'VE ACTUALLY VOTED TODAY, vote for your favorite mascot (or just your own ward) by liking the corresponding post (or do a "write-in" in the comments of this post) I'll tally the votes here and on the IG (link in comments) and only one municipal mascot can prevail!
Day 14 Ward 14! 14 of 14 City of St. Louis --Redistricting-- Ward Mascots(just based on whatever I think the outline of the new ward looks like🤔).
Four scores and seven minutes ago 14th Ward's new macot the "Abe Lincolns" had already won. If your team's mascot is the Steve Douglases or the Jeff Davises, don't even bother.
Day 13 Ward 13! 13 of 14 City of St. Louis --Redistricting-- Ward Mascots(just based on whatever I think the outline of the new ward looks like🤔).
Before its evolutionary divergence into primates and dinosaurs, 13th Ward's new mascot the "Monkeysaurus" ruled in the canopy of the massive trees that grew near the confluence. Could this be the "missing link" we're always hearing about??
Day 12 Ward 12! 12 of 14 City of St. Louis --Redistricting-- Ward Mascots(just based on whatever I think the outline of the new ward looks like🤔).
Legend has it 12th Ward's new mascot the "Eaves Droppers" would drop down off flat roofs and harass any child caught skipping school. Historians believe this was a scare campaign orchestrated by local moms. Just a few incidences was all it took to convince youngsters that moms could be hiding behind every parapet in town between the hours of 8 and 3.
3 days left until election day, and 3 mascots left to go (I've already finished them, but you'll have to wait!)
On the big Tuesday I tally the likes on each mascot(both here and on the IG--link in comments) and ONLY ONE MASCOT SURVIVES!
Day 11 Ward 11! 11 of 14 City of St. Louis --Redistricting-- Ward Mascots(just based on whatever I think the outline of the new ward looks like🤔).
Circling and circling high above, Ward 11's mascot, the "Picky Vultures" are holding out for something a little more palatable. When they finally descend, it will be upon only the finest five-star carcasses.
Day 10 Ward 10! 10 of 14 City of St. Louis --Redistricting-- Ward Mascots(just based on whatever I think the outline of the new ward looks like🤔).
Ward 10 contains all of Forest Park where the "Turtle Kings" hold court. From their stoney thrones in the park or in the zoo, they pass judgement on all visitors (while nearby, stone turtles built to honor them look down in judgement on I-64.) We enjoy these places at their begrudging mercy.
Day 9 Ward 9! 9 of 14 City of St. Louis --Redistricting-- Ward Mascots(just based on whatever I think the outline of the new ward looks like🤔).
9th Ward's new mascot may be gobbling up feed, but isn't gobbling up your lies. These "Suspicious Turkeys" get extra suspicious around election times (experts think this is because they associate all elections with November)
Day 8 Ward 8! 8 of 14 City of St. Louis --Redistricting-- Ward Mascots(just based on whatever I think the outline of the new ward looks like🤔).
8th Ward rules the south banks where legend has it their mascot, *somewhat* deadly river sharks called "Under Bites" would terrorize the river if--1 anybody was brave enough to go in, and --2 If they had an upper mandible opposing their fearsome lower one. Here's hoping neither of these things ever happen.
Day 7 Ward 7! 7 of 14 City of St. Louis --Redistricting-- Ward Mascots(just based on whatever I think the outline of the new ward looks like🤔).
7th ward's Mr. Swords only has two swords, but he brandishes them in the shape of a 7 to create the "Seven Swords" which really pumps the 7th ward(a ward which is, appropriately, mostly shaped like a 7.) Coincidence?
Day 6 Ward 6! 6 of 14 City of St. Louis --Redistricting-- Ward Mascots(just based on whatever I think the outline of the new ward looks like🤔).
No one can resist opening a box. And no one is prepared for 6th Wards new mascot "Snake Inside of a Box." Other wards wonder what is in the box. Well...open it up and find out.
Day 5 Ward 5! 5 of 14 City of St. Louis --Redistricting-- Ward Mascots(just based on whatever I think the outline of the new ward looks like🤔).
5th Ward's new mascot the "Sleepy Cowboys" (not to be confused with that other, more awake mascot) are all tuckered out from a long day on the trail. *shhhh* Lets let the sleepy cowboys get some rest.
