Woke up this morning @ 5:00 to the sound of Jody‘s alarm going off for work. While helping him get a few things together before he left, I could hear the birds singing outside. Ronnie Hull, yep I’m just like you, enjoying my coffee early.
We haven’t camped here in about 4 1/2 years but since we had to move our motorhome out of Biloxi this past weekend, we decided to take one last hurrah before we put Miss Alle in storage. Jody will work a couple of days and I’ll be able to get a lot of work done while it’s quiet and peaceful here in Bay St. Louis. That is if I can stay focused and not sit out all day looking at the water, watching and listening to the birds.

Louisiana isn’t used to icy roads, so they have to use was available to keep us all safe.
One of the hardest parts of my business is the passing of a client. Yesterday Stafford Smith, that had been a client since January 1998, passed away from complications of cancer.
Stafford retired from the New Orleans VA Hospital at the end of 2021 but we were always conducting some sort of business on the phone, email, or mail once he left the VA. He asked me to review retirement forms and help him make decisions about certain benefits he was confused over . I had not seen him since he retired, but he never mentioned to me that he was ill. The last time I sat down with him was in the fall of 2021. I had no idea that would be our last visit.
Stafford was such a good person, and would send me new clients all through the years. He explained to his new employees that they needed some guidance as a Federal Employee, and that I could help them. He knew Jody and when he would see him at work, he would ask about me and tell Jody to tell me "Hi!" I bet through the years Jody must have relayed that "Hi" from Stafford at least once a month.
I have no doubt that Stafford had as many friends on the outside as he did at the VA. He was always surrounded by others.
I am going to miss his calls, as he had such a deep and distinctive voice. Stafford was a good man and we actually completed some business at the end of last year to help make things easier for his wife in case of his passing.
Rest In Peace Stafford. Thank you for allowing me to be of service, for thinking enough of me to refer me to others, but most of all, to be your friend.

Remember not everyone knows and understands the Federal and Postal Employee's systems, nor do they take the time to get to know the individual employee that has a totally different scenario than the coworker sitting beside them. Everyone has a unique story.
After working for 32 years with the Fed and Postal family, I pride myself that I study constantly the many changes made by the various systems, as well as the new laws and how the new rules will apply differently to some employees as well as their beneficiaries. It is important that I know the client's story before I make recommendations ethically.
Giving a seminar and quoting a few general facts does not make everyone a specialist in the federal and postal realm. Not every agent reads and studies the many changes that are made by the employee's HR systems continually. Many agents are beholding to just one company, and their products may not be what is best for a particular client.
Staying on top of my client's ever-changing situation, needs, dreams, and to make sure they are not going to run out of money, as well as helping the client save on taxes for themselves and their beneficiaries is and has always been my main goal.
