Dear L-B Music Community,

Abbi Carter is a current 8th-grade choir student at LBMS. Abbi has been hospitalized at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus since February 27th with severe toxic shock syndrome due to having Influenza A, Strep A, and a very rare bacterial infection. In the early stages of her hospitalization, she was intubated and was in a medically induced coma for 11 days. During the first 2 weeks of her illness, she had gone into kidney and liver failure along with a strep pocket landing in her right thigh.

She has had over 20 debridement surgeries which have removed a lot of muscle and tissue from her right thigh. It has been a very long exhausting battle that she is currently still fighting at Nationwide Children’s in Columbus (almost 3 months). She is undertaking surgeries twice a week for wound vac change outs and cleanings. But Abbi is a fighter and will continue to fight and beat this no matter how long it takes.

This Friday, May 24 our students K-12 will be participating in a walk around the track. Typically, we use this walk to raise awareness and funds for diabetes. This year, we decided to use this walk to try and raise money for Abbi Carter and her family for medical expenses. We are asking you to please consider donating to her GoFundMe account. Your contributions are not only greatly needed but much appreciated.

Parents of SENIORS, have you sent in your collage photos yet? Crafting begins next week.

SENIOR COLLAGE FRAMES

Attn parents of Seniors:
We want to make you aware of an LB Music Boosters tradition of facilitating photo collage crafting for each graduating LB Music student. These collages, created by LB underclassmen, serve as a memento of your Senior’s involvement in the Music Department throughout their years at LB. The frames will be presented to Seniors at the end-of-the-year potluck and Music Awards ceremony MAY 23 at 6 PM.

The Music Boosters supply 12”x18” frames for the collages and decorative supplies (scrapbook paper, glue, stickers, etc.) Underclassmen will gather after school MAY 15 - 17 from 3-6 PM to create the collages. We need YOUR HELP gathering photos for the collages. Photos can be of your student in their choir robe or band uniform, on the field for marching band, at a MS or HS concert, on stage in a musical, at an FTB performance, on a music field trip, at rehearsal, etc. If needed, some photos are available on the school website https://www.liberty-benton.org/Pictures.aspx .

Please place your photos in a Ziplock baggie or in an envelope clearly labeled with your student’s name. Often underclassmen spell out the student’s name in the collage with stickers etc., so if you have a particular nickname/diminutive you’d prefer to be used, just indicate so in a note in the baggie/envelope. Please turn in photos to Mr. Wolfe/Mr. Holben no later than May 14, (the sooner the better.)

The collages always turn out nicely, and it’s a joy to watch the underclassmen put in the time and effort to honor their graduating peers. We appreciate your help in gathering meaningful photos for this project. Thank you!

❤️💙We need an adult volunteer to supervise crafting from 3-6pm on MAY 16, if anyone is available. All supplies will be at school. You’d just need to be there as a token chaperone and put everything away at the end of the evening.💙❤️
