Trish and Jonesy will be looking for their furever home soon.

Yes these are the SAME dogs in both sets of pictures!
To say it’s been a process is an understatement! They had teeth pulled, all their shots, spays, and grooming. But they are so worth it💗💕
Now on to better lives sweet girls! Be sure and watch our petfinder for when they are available.

Update on Sweetieđź’“

She has been released as of today, but we aren’t out of the clear. She is eating and drinking as of yesterday but is still very skinny and weak. When she saw us her little tail started wagging and she was so happy so we are very hopeful she will continue to get stronger with each day💗 We love our little fighter!! Please send all positive vibes Sweeties way and again thank you so much for the continued support, without it we cannot do half of what we do!

I HATE to do yet another sad post, I wish our feed was more good then bad but unfortunately that’s just not our reality, especially now days!
This is a face we see too often. The face of defeat. This is Sweetie, finder turned over to us and we feared the worst. We thought for sure we would be dealing with parvo. The only highlight is Sweetie tested negative for parvo, the bad thing is she is extremely dehydrated, covered in staph, and is so weak she is having to stay at the vet. This girl isn’t even 5 months old and this is her life!! I’m sad to think about what happened to her siblings and what happened to her mom. Was she discarded and dumped because she was sick? I’m so sad that this is the life she was born into, I’m sad that we are yet again in financial distress because irresponsible people refuse to spay/neuter their pets, I’m sad because given 1-2 more days and Sweetie wouldn’t be here. So here we are again opening our closed intake, taking on another project pup, and will be up all night hopeful Sweetie makes it and we will have the opportunity to show her a real life with love.

One day I hope that our positive post outweigh our negative. I’m hopeful that people will catch on and become more accountable and responsible when it comes to their pets but until then I’m forced to ask the dreaded question, can you please give a little? $1, $5, and if not please share in hopes someone else might be able to. Thank you for continuing to support us and follow our page, trust me, I know it’s hard to see and read these stories. The toll it takes on us can be unbearable at times.

Exciting news!

💕Liv is home!! They gave her a grooming and look at that face and attitude!! Her medical bills are $967.48 and this is just the start of her medical journey. She will still need a dental and the vet has give us the option to go back in and remove a hernia and some cancerous spots, however he almost lost her in the surgery so we are opting out and she will only be getting a dental. They believe she is 12 years old and hasn’t had any medical up to this point. We will most likely only look for a foster/foster to adopt home for her. So if you have a calm home and would love to have a baby to hold and love on, Liv could really use you! We also need help raising some funds for her medical if you could help we desperately need it right now.

We did get in a BarkBox and the dogs LOST THEIR MINDS!! It’s always so fun to watch everyone’s reactions to the new toys and treats!
Be sure and watch our Petfinder page, https://www.petfinder.com/member/us/tx/cooper/off-the-chain-rescue-tx2444/ we have so many adorable pups coming up soon!! Just this week Roxanne, Marsha, Benita, and Chester all revived vetting and are being postedđź’—đź’— If interested please apply at https://www.offthechainrescuetx.com/application-to-adopt-or-foster

This is Liv.
Liv has been used for breeding, I’m unsure how many years or how many litters she supplied her previous owner. What I do know is she was turned over to us with no name, no vetting, and no additional information about her likes and dislikes. I assume this is because she hasn’t been given a name, was never given any vetting or checkups, and I’m sure by the amount of fleas on her she has spent majority of her life discarded in the backyard only getting attention when she could produce puppies. In all of our years of rescue we have never received a “healthy” Maltese. Unfortunately for Liv this fact remains. The first day it was apparent she’s never had a dental in her life, she will have to have a ton of teeth removed, this is not uncommon with little dogs we take in. Day two was a completely different story, Liv started bleeding an excessive amount so we rushed her to the vet. They quickly diagnosed her with Pyometra, which is a totally preventable illness if she would have been spayed. The vet is currently giving sweet Liv a 70% chance of making it, we are currently waiting on today’s update. When you meet this girl she will melt your heart, she is the sweetest, calmest, most loving girl. We are happy to get Liv the medical help she’s needed for no telling how long. We are so hopeful that Liv will make it through this so that she can experience what being a true companion is really like💗
Please send positive thoughts to our sweet girl and if you would like to help us fight for her little life you can do so below.

The amount of dumped dogs/puppies has become unbearable. We are getting 10+ messages a day about abandoned and dumped animals. The sad thing is, we can’t help most anymore. Medical bills are overwhelming and lack of space is so discouraging. We luckily had a foster step up for these two girls.

So meet Andi & Averyđź’•
These two girls had been dumped in the woods, luckily someone found them and gave them food and water. Not sure how long they had been in the woods but they have bellies full of worms and were infested with fleas and ticks! Some of the worst we have seen. But their vetting has officially begun and their first worming administered. We are so excited we could save this adorable duo and cannot wait to see their exciting future!

If you would like to donate, we would greatly appreciate itđź’—

These are two different stories that are far two common in rescue. First is sweet GiGi and her five tiny babies. This family found themselves at the Greenville TX shelter and after meeting them we knew we had to save them. GiGi has adapted so quickly to her foster life, she loves to play and lives for treats!!
Next is Piper and Pixie who ended up being owner surrendered to the Greenville Shelter too. The owners said that Piper is only 1 year old and Pixie is from her first litter!! Pixie was struggling to walk on her front leg and Piper was begging to leave, so we again couldn’t say no. Pixie saw the vet and luckily it’s nothing to worry about. They have both been dream dogs and Piper is enjoying all the pond swimming she can handle.
We cannot stress enough how important it is to spay and neuter!! None of these dogs should have ended up at a shelter and we are so lucky none of them ended up sick!! Not only that but shelters all over this state are having to euthanize puppies daily!! Just because they are puppies does not mean they won’t be euthanized! Please be responsible pet owners💗

GiGi is now ready for adoption, her puppies will be available for pre-adoption soon, Piper will be available starting this weekend, and Pixie will be available for pre-adoption very soon🤩🤩

This precious boy is currently at our vets office, he was ran over and had to have a metal rod put in his leg. He is recovering well however they are having to keep him in their outdoor kennel so they ask if we could help. Could anyone foster this boy for 3-4 weeks to keep him indoors while he recovers?! His metal rod will be removed within the next 3 weeks. Everything will be covered. Please reach out if you can help us help this boy and if you can’t foster please share in hopes of finding a foster or potential adopter.

‼️‼️‼️‼️ Rescues, Fosters, anyone who can possibly help‼️‼️‼️‼️

These dogs are in Cooper TX!! The man took them in to keep them from being killed, he has tried his best to care for them but it is totally out of his control at this point. Three are puppies around 3 months, 5 females (none are spayed), and 5 males. We cannot help, we have no room whatsoever!! If anyone could foster we can help, if any other rescues can step up we can transport, if anyone can do anything at all please reach out! We took the man 4 bags of dog food because he cannot afford to feed them. He has tried but he only has his social security check and it’s just not covering what this issue has evolved into. One female looks pregnant and I’m sure it won’t be long before others are as well! Please reach out if you can help in any capacity‼️ This is such a sad situation.

We have had many highs and many lows this week as you often do in rescue. The highs started when we received a call from Hochheim Prairie Insurance saying that they would like to award us with a $1,000 check and this was so exciting for us since this is our first ever corporate donation! We also have been waiting for awhile on a puppy that was in protective custody at the shelter. She came in and was only around a month old on intake. She has grown up since March only knowing her kennel and the people who fed and cleaned her kennel. I was informed while there that she had been signed over FINALLY by the owner! No hesitation we said yes we would take her. She came out and might be one of the cutest pups I've ever laid eyes on, however when I went to touch her she let out the most horrible scream and it completely jolted me. She hadn't been touched by any other person other then staff, she has had no socialization. I gave her a bit, talked to her for awhile and finally she got in my lap in the car. I talked to her the whole way, promising her a good life, that she would NEVER have to go back to a shelter or have an owner who would be so neglectful that they would allow her to sit at a shelter for MONTHS never thinking of how it would effect her mentally or socially. I'm proud to say her name is Teddi now and she is now almost ready for adoption! We are all so in love with her and she is proving to be a quick OTCR favorite. Then yesterday we came home to an abundance of gifts from our Amazon Wishlist. On top of the donations we have received over the past week will help us pay off heartworm treatment for Gemma, a Greenville Shelter dog who was also in protective custody for awhile and Jodi, a Cooper TX stray who had 12 puppies. These donations also covered us fully vetting Allie and Amy who are now available for adoption(Both also Greenville shelter dogs). We are so excited to continue to help dogs within our surrounding areas because they are so deserving. Thank you all so much for helping us be able to continue to say YES to so many animals. Without help, we cannot help❤️

We received a plea for this mom and EIGHT puppies living on the streets in Cooper, TX. Rescue has been so hard, we are having to say no to animals that a year ago we would have room for or fosters for… that’s no longer the case. All rescues are full, all fosters are full and unfortunately funds just aren’t there. But this face stuck in our volunteers head, how can we NOT save her, how can we NOT get seven female puppies off the streets, how can we NOT save a litter of puppies that have been shot at, one of which has a bullet hole in it’s side, how can we NOT save a momma dog who has protected her babies and kept them alive for so long on her own… how do we say no?!? We’ve made room and now we need help with the hardest part of all, funds. We have so many medical cases and so many dogs who we are having to say no to only because the funds aren’t there. The puppies have gone and received fecals, dewormer, flea meds, first shots and momma is being spayed today along with all of her vetting as well. We are already out $320 and that’s only the beginning for this family of nine. Please if you can donate, foster, or share we would greatly appreciate it💗

Some of you might have seen the sad videos of the chihuahuas/Doxies that had been owner surrendered to the Greenville TX shelter due to their owner dying. These poor dogs obviously had their entire world shook and started shutting down quickly! We put out a plea for foster/rescue help and we were able to get them out. Two of the six went to our friends at Rescue Row and the remaining four stayed with us. They went to the vet and luckily everyone is heartworm negative and for the most part in good health, however everyone needs dentals and poor Jackson is going to need surgery to remove a hernia. We have taken in so many dogs over the last couple of months and funds are quickly dwindlingđź’”

If you can help us Jackson, Gypsy, Stormy, and sweet Abby would greatly appreciate it! If you are interested in fostering or adopting an amazing senior dog please reach out to us.

Off The Chain Rescue

Off The Chain Rescue was founded in 2019 after realizing the desperate need of additional animal rescue in Hunt & Delta Counties.

We have worked privately in rescue for many years by fostering, and adopting neglected animals in our community. We have been fortunate to work alongside, and partner with some of the best rescues in Texas, and throughout the country.

At OTCR we take pride in the fact that we foster our own local rescues, and foster for many other rescues throughout the country.

Our main mission is to give animals who typically wouldn't have a second chance, an opportunity to thrive, and grow in a loving & nurturing environment while waiting for their FURever home. While in the care of OTCR, ALL animals receive the proper vetting, love, and socialization needed for them to be properly adopted with a suitable family.
