Rest In Peace K9 Officer Axe,
New Castle Police Department, Indiana.
End Of Watch: April 27, 2019

"For it is not just those with 2 legs who are born with a soul that has Courage to wear the Badge"© ~Nessie~

Born with a soul that has Courage to wear the Badge, K9 Axe had been taking a bite out of crime as a Law Enforcement canine for 9 months.

Fearless and Faithful, K9 Axe was loyal through and through and will be missed by so very many, though none more than his two legged partner and best friend, Sergeant Hedges. May we all vow never to let him be forgotten and always remember K9 Axe for how he Lived As Only A Hero Could, with Loyalty and Courage.

Our 4-legged 'Brother', as you now patrol the Rainbow Bridge may you continue your vigilant watch over us all as we carry on In Your Honor. We thank you for your service and for your sacrifices. We thank you for your life. Job Well Done. GOOD BOOOY!!

Rest In Peace K9 AXE ... We Have The Watch From Here.

***Community Service Announcement***

New Castle Police Department is sad to announce the unexpected passing of K9 Axe. On April 27, 2019 at approximately 7:00am Sgt Josh Hedges went to let K9 Axe out of his kennel and found that Axe had collapsed during the night. Sgt Hedges immediately rushed Axe to the veterinarian where they attempted to save Axe; however, the veterinarian was unsuccesful and Axe passed away.

Axe was transported to Purdue University for an autopsy to determine his cause of death. At this time it is believed that he suffered a medical emergency known as Gastric Tortion. Unfortunately this is common in large breed working dogs

Sgt Hedges and K9 Axe had worked the evening prior and K9 Axe appeared well. K9 Axe had been running around playing with his tennis ball as normal and assisted NCPD on a perimeter at a 911 call.

Sgt Hedges and Axe had been partnered for approximately 9 months.
