What a difference a valance makes! Swipe to see the before of this luxury powder room. The arched valance makes the small window look like it has an arched top but it’s just a trick to add more architecture to the room. Notice that the bead trim goes all the way up the sides where the fabric returns to the wall. The extra bead trim elevates this valance to the next level of luxury matching the sparkle of the chandelier.

See the pillows that this wall inspired me to create. I was obsessed with the pattern, texture, and color palette of this restaurant counter that I studied for 20 minutes one day waiting for takeout.

This center split drapery is wall to wall coverage. We had to off center the pair because there is more wall space on the right than the left. The wall to wall treatment is much more glorious than stopping short on the right side just to be symmetrical. The center of the drape still meets at the center of the sliding door but has a bigger stack on the right. The room turned out so beautiful and balanced. Fabric by Roaming/Ash lined with lining

Working on new sample cornices for the showroom!

Step one of the detailed cornice with banding and nailheads. This is just my process which has evolved over the years. There are many ways to achieve the same look, but in case you are curious, here’s how I do it. First, upholster the cornice with the main fabric that will be visible only in the center after the banding is applied. Be sure the design is centered in the middle and plot out the best part of the pattern. This step can make or break the whole look if the pattern is off center.

My newest showroom sample. This exclusive fabric inspired all the fabrics used in the other samples. I debated on which pleat style to use in the header and decided the cartridge pleat was the best fit for such a modern fabric. There are a few more to come but this one is definitely the most colorful. It fits the Sherwin Williams color pallette “Play” from Colormix 2020.

These 5 inch pinch pleats needed a little help so we tacked the tops of the pleats to make them extra crisp. See the before photo to see the difference.

This is a beautiful example of pencil pleats showing the unique header. We board mounted these stationary panels but they could also be hung from decorative rods. They would be amazing on black rods with brass rings and brackets! Finials could also be brass or maybe crystal or clear acrylic!! Designed by: Heather Smith

We made an adorable sample for the showroom using this fun Kate Spade fabric from Kravet. We added side banding and a small flat welt at the top of the cartridge pleats. The Moss colored sheer linen from Fabricut compliments the colorful polka dots. The cartridge pleats allow this sheer fabric to hang nicely and show off the polka dots centered on each pleat. The charming fabric mixes delightfully well with the gloss white rod with brass rings and brackets.

This amazing ripplefold drapery provides privacy and light control from the massive retractable glass door behind it. The floor to ceiling length drapery is 144” long, allowing plenty of room for the color blocking design. The two solid colors compliment the main geometric pattern as well as the finishes in the home.

This bold cornice compliments the client’s harlequin chairs. I repurposed black leather scraps for this award winning top treatment. It took second place at Window Fashion Vision Workroom Competition 2019.

This window treatment was inspired by the details in the bedding. We designed the asymmetrical cornices to create a dramatic focal point and the illusion of larger windows.
