I am Yul M***a Brown and I am running for the McDonough City Council in District 4!

Imagine leaving your house to a new resident, not of your choosing, but one who has been chosen and has sworn to serve as leader and protector of the people left inside and their interests. You check back after a time and absolutely no progress has been made, in any direction or by any measure. The progress you made on the house has remained stagnant since your departure and the people within the house have no voice through which they can make things better. The person left in charge was nothing more than a placeholder; someone marking time without making waves or progress for the residents. Now imagine that I am the former resident and I have returned to find that the placeholder has been unwilling or unqualified to push forward the interests of District 4 residents or of McDonough residents in general. It is time for the placeholder to vacate! I have returned to fight with renewed energy and an enhanced perspective. I have returned to fight for the residents of District 4, in McDonough The residents of District 4, in McDonough, deserve more than what they have received, in terms of leadership, these last three years. I have been humbled and I have come to realize that I took many things for granted when I was in office but no more. We need effective representation in District 4 and I am the one with the relationships and the experience to be that representative. I want to:
• Stabilize the City’s financial position, making sure we are prepared for a strong economic future
• Provide quality job opportunities for all citizens, especially those in District 4
• Create more educational and academic opportunities for citizens
• Continue to revitalize downtown McDonough, making it an epicenter for business and entrepreneurial ventures
• Establish a City of McDonough African American Heritage Museum and Event Center
• Create a Police Athletic League for the Youth
• Strive to make McDonough the “Jewel of the Southern Crescent”, through innovative policy- making and development

Max DePree said that “Leadership is an Art” and that “the first responsibility of a leader is to define reality.” Allow me to paint the realistic picture of leadership on the McDonough City Council, from District 4; leadership is sorely lacking effectiveness and efficiency. Further, I am very much qualified to be the effective representative and leader from District 4. I am an independent thinker with political obligations to no one. I am a good listener, capable of making tough decisions to benefit the many, while minimizing offense to the few. I have lock-step allegiance to the residents of District 4 and no one else. Max DePree went on to say that “The last (responsibility of a leader) is to say thank you. In between, the leader is a servant." I served the residents of District 4 for nine years; elected and re-elected because of my commitment and service. I would be honored to do so again, with renewed energy and enhanced perspective.
To accomplish this goal, I need your help. I need volunteers, as well as, financial contributions.
