Make your child resourceful by keeping the child busy.Erroneously, some parents believe that life is about Education,! Education!! and Education!!!.
Certainly, it's not so.Knowledge is endless and none a waste.All imparted in children, often come handy and build them into "Total man or woman"... Who says,you must engage a house help?... It only,inhibits,opportunity to adequately equip your child for the future....Domestic services:dish washing, clothes washing & ironing,bed making,cooking and table setting has no gender but most parents still go out there to engage and pay house helps for what their children should be doing, unfortunately they are still the ones to teach the maids who came from the village setting,to expertise,how to do those chores,their children know nothing about... After their education, the children becomes as useless as the left hand(apologies to southpaws,like Fashola,Ooni Ogunwusi etc)
SKILL ACQUISITION
By weekends,short and long vacations:Do your children,go to lessons only or play-away in the neighborhood?... joining bad gangs...picking up new negative attitude or pranks.No..it should not be so...apart from lessons...noticeably, challenge them,tapping their identified talents and take them out to good craftsmen and women to learn a vocation over a period:Motor mechanic,Rewire,Rewinding,Diesel gen.repairs,Fashion designing,Bricklaying,Hair dressing & barbing,video coverage&photography,Computer programming & repairs,Furniture making,Electrical wiring & installation,Drycleaning/carpet cleaning,Lawn tennis, Golf,Football clinic,Basketball,Boxing/Gymn coaching etc.Do you know that they can still attend college and learn any of these,spread over like sandwich course and do freedom in 2-3 years depending on chosen vocation.Hence from JS 3-SS2...a career opportunity can be made for your child.On entering the University, you already have an industrious child,that would be studying to graduate and still making money among co-undergraduates.PARENTS... ARE YOU ON THE RIGHT TRACK?...IF NOT...RETRACE YOUR STEPS AND DO THE NEEDFUL.!!!

At age 11,start to observe your child as he or she starts to unfold his or her natural character traits...Thank God for the good aspects and start to seriously work on the negative ones.At this stage onwards,the two parents better start speaking in unison and better start to live exemplary life...if u smoke,or consume alcohol... Your child start to emulate you and exhibit those minor,minor..."don't do this,do this,don't do that"...the moment you start to do otherwise or engage in other vices,know that you have started to distort the character of ur child......Peer influence, is out there,in the neighborhood, at school(Day & boarding)at church. Be your child's guide,friend and guardian.Its hopeless expecting teachers to help you do your job...that is why its called "Home training".. Women should be very careful at pampering their kids,nor work at cross purposes with their spouse,particularly over the children.... Women are good at spending valuable hours,watching Nollywood films,but alas by their behaviors, it never seem they have learnt any lessons ,therefrom.,as we still have mothers over pampering their children or antagonising spouses,trying to make the child tow the path of sanity...thus leading the child to destruction or turned house helps to slaves to serve their children,which in the end are counterproductive, turning some of today's children to end failures@marriages,in their office,in the community and on all fronts of life....Few.men like us that have responsible spouses,should thank our stars.Most importantly parents should work on these two vital areas,that make or mar the future of our children, namely: Peer influence and Home training....

WHY YOU MUST TRAIN YOUR CHILDREN.(1)
I'm sure the story of the life and times,especially, the tragic end of Late Barrister.Chief Bode Thomas,an Oyo town indigene and one the early political elites,has been told and recently,gone viral on the social media. Whether the story of his brilliance as a young attorney and politician was 100% true or not...Whether,it was true that he was charm-cursed,and made to bark like a dog,till death,the way,he barked with authority and power,disgracing the old monarch,while young Bode Thomas was holding the Local council Chairmanship of Oyo Local govt-a top public office position in the colonial days,he wanted to assert,over the late Alaafin Adeyemi,the 1st(father of present Alaafin),for rudely talking down or yabbing the old,powerful monarch(old enough to be his father)was true or not...what has been clearly established is that,apart from giving sound western or eastern education to our children,the need to teach them how to behave matters most,for their survival in this wild,wild world.
CHILDHOOD
Right from cradle and crawling age,start to train your child.....throw objects few yards away,urge him to go and bring back the object... teach him,how to call u,daddy,not by ur name...start from onset,to build a life of service, respect,kindness and strength of character in him or her.Remember,the holy books,urge you to train your child, when he's young and when he grows older,shall not depart from the path.
SCHOOL AGE
Right from nursery school,to primary and secondary school,never relax,your watch over your children. Fortify them with prayers and show them the way of God.Strive to educate them at affordable and sustainable but good schools,but never break banks or borrow to continuously carry on...such good schools still abound.Never copy ur neighbours or [email protected] not pamper your children particularly those at the boarding school.Do not allow your level of wealth and position in society be the yardstick of what you do for them,but what is needed.Moderacy is the word..Watch them in and out of school..Do not surrender their watch to the mother,as only few gifted mothers,can do it rightly,without the father's attention.Just know that character formation starts at teenage level....also know that at this age,peer influence takes over..This is the period,parents need to work hard,in this age of computer, internet and various social media....MAY GOD HELP U,SUCCEED,IN THIS HERCULEAN TASK OF PARENTHOOD.!!!
