Every day this year I am showcasing 4-5 books that I would recommend in a particular subject or by a particular author, etc., including books on tarot, esotericism, ritual, kabbalah, spirituality and mysticism carefully selected from my library of about 10,000 books.

I thought friends and folk might be interested in today's 1-minute video which is on the five books I recommend for the Sabian Symbols, which is the oracular system from 1925 that I consider my personal "secret weapon" when used alongside or instead of tarot.

The books are shown in reverse order of recommendation, so the fourth and fifth books are the most recommended. I am lucky enough to know Lyn Birkbeck, author of that book, whose magnum opus on Sabian Symbols and accompanying App is a regular source of divinatory wisdom in my daily life. Highly recommended!

I've just released the new episode of The Actual Magician's Bookshelf, in which we look at 'The Great Beast' by John Symonds, the book that took me to Egypt and the Stele of Revealing.

I also select out the concept of "Aeons" from Crowley's work and discuss its origins and importance to the contemporary magician.
