Playing an instrument helps tune the brain

Welcome one of our newests teachers, Carrie Hatton-Lawlor.

Carrie Hatton-Lawlor is a graduate from the Wallenpaupack School District. She studied music at Wilkes University with a concentration on piano and clarinet. Carrie also has a band instrument repair degree from Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City, Iowa. Carrie has had her own repair shop and taught privately for 10 years. Her students consisted of piano, flute, clarinet, and saxophone. At her yearly recitals students performed duets and group numbers along with solo repertoire. Carrie currently lives in the Wallenpaupack region with her two boys, ages 8 and 3.

It's the last week to log practice hours for the contest. Don't forget to bring your logs with you next week at your lesson. Winner will be announced Feb. 13th.

Teachers, Staff and Friends from Robert M. Sides will be performing in a recital Feb. 17th. Come out to support your teachers. We are colaborating on some great songs and ensembles along with solo works and duets. Check back for more info!!!

Joe Michaels • Guitar, Electric & Upright Bass, Improvisation for all instruments

Joe Michaels teaches private guitar, electric bass and upright bass. He also offers Jazz Improvisation for all instruments along with ear training and theory. Joe studied Jazz Performance at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. He has taught privately for over 10 years and has conducted master classes and lessons at Penn State University Main Campus. Joe Michaels has been performing as a Professional Freelance Musician for over 10 years. He has toured throughout the United States and Europe with various artists.Joe has performed or recorded with Grammy nominated artists such as David Liebman
and Kurt Elling and International Artists such as Tim Warfi eld, Rich Perry, and Joel Frahm.Currently, Joe tours with “9/11 Singing Policeman” Daniel Rodriguez.

Lessons for Saturday Jan. 21st are canceled due to the snow. See everyone next week. Keep practicing!
