So excited that our stylish thriller has been selected to compete at the Asian Academy Creative Awards in the single drama/anthology episode category this year. A phenomenal script by Meenu Gaur and Farjad Nabi, glorious direction by Meenu Gaur, arresting cinematography by Mo Azmi, unforgettable music, phenomenal performances… the list of superlatives is endless. For this truly original Pakistan-made project to be nominated on behalf of India’s Zee5 platform and selected to represent the country shows that working together only makes us all better artists and humans. May there be many more transnational creative collaborations!

Excited that Meherjaan, the 2011 Bangladeshi feature film directed by Rubaiyat Hossain, (in which I co-starred alongside cinema legends Jaya Bachchan and Victor Banerjee), continues to inspire discussion on history, identity and transregionalism in South Asian Cinema. Meherjaan is set in the lead-up to the 1971 War in East Pakistan that resulted in the founding of Bangladesh. The team behind the film sought to heal the festering wounds in the collective psyche of our region through truth-based story-telling. Really looking forward to reading the essays in this new book called South Asian Filmscapes, due to be released this fall. After all, we make art in order to connect and continued discussion on our film is the absolute greatest reward and award!
