DAMAGING WINDS LIKELY FRIDAY ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSEE!

A powerful storm system will bring gusty winds to 60mph at times throughout the day Friday. This means:

* Scattered downed trees
* Scattered power outages
* Some minor structure damage
* Difficult driving

Also, a band of thunderstorms will cross the area. These storms could enhance the winds and cause pockets of more significant damage. Isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out. A few spots may have brief flooding. The main time for these storms is 9 AM to 2 PM.

What you should do:

* Secure outdoor items
* Stay away from trees
* Be extra cautious driving, especially on west/east highways
* Prepare for possible power outages- make sure your devices are charged

The winds will drop off significantly around sunset Friday and we can look forward to calm conditions for the rest of the weekend.

You may have noticed a hazy sky today. A special balloon release to help forecast Hurricane Delta shows a strong temperature inversion near the ground. An inversion traps the smoke, dust, and other particles that have been building up over the past couple of days. This layer is the high clouds we see overhead. These clouds are streaming up from Hurricane Delta and are adding to the hazy look of the sky. When the remnants of Delta approach this weekend, the winds and rain will sweep away the haze.
