Random Lessons Learned from Making Films 09/09/2019

Things get exponentially harder the more characters you have.

Good sound is more important than a good image.

Resolution matters way less than you think.

Don’t forget urgency.

Aim for 200% to get 100%.

It’s all about the ending.

Your first cut will make you depressed.

Depression is inevitable.

Random Lessons Learned from Making Films A mix of things. Some opinions and things that might only be true for me. Some spoilers for Shazam, Annabelle Creation & Lights Out I guess.

Hi everyone. As most of you are aware I am up for tenure at the University. I’m preparing paperwork for my tenure application which is due at the beginning of September. I would love to include recommendation letters from any current or former Film guild officers that focus on my work with a guild. If anyone is able and willing to do that for me in the next week or so you can address it to the MTSU tenure committee and you can send a copy to me that I can put in with my paperwork. Much appreciated

Anyone here who would like to help me storyboard a short film project. No pay unfortunately.

22/03/2018

Hello Middle Tennessee friends,

I am directing a short film on May 1st and 2nd and we need your help in finding a location.

We need an older house, craftsman or Sears catalogue style. It is the home of a retired policeman and where he has lived for most of his adult life. We would only shoot in a front room and inside the front doorway. We probably won't see the exterior, but we will see out the front door and need to see an older middle class neighborhood with trees and sidewalks.

We are hoping to film this in or near Nashville.

We have a minuscule budget but hopefully can afford a small location fee.

We'd need to dress for half a day and shoot for half a day.

Here are some reference photos of what we're looking for. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

CASTING CALL

Casting a specific character for a tv series Proof of Concept. HIGH production value. Shooting soon. There's no pay due to the entire budget going to equipment/ wardrobe/ catering etc. However, this is a HUGE opportunity for exposure and possible inclusion in a full episode if the project moves to series.

Random Girl 1:
Short. Petite. Innocent-looking.
Had a sheltered upbringing, and is somewhat naive because of it. Never popular with the guys in high school - but determined to change that perception with her fresh start in college. No longer under her parents' strict rules, she's ready to cut loose and release her inner bad girl. Smokes to fit in.

Character specs: all hair colors welcome, beautiful smile, think “girl next-door-look”

If interested in auditioning for this role, please utilize the attached script page to film your audition (camera phone is fine). Please make sure camera is still and filmed in good lighting.

Send your audition video, headshot, and full body shot to [email protected]. We look forward to seeing your portrayal of this colorful character. Good luck!
