GESC director Ginny Chappelear responded to the recent Sarasota Herald Tribune article on su***de with a Letter to the Editor on July 8. http://www.heraldtribune.com/article/20110708/LETTERS/110709669
Su***de survivors need support I read with great interest the Herald-Tribune's recent editorials (July 3 and 6) related to the alarming increase in the rate of su***de throughout our region during the past decade. Sarasota County's high su***de rate was highlighted in a recent article of the Sarasota Herald Tribune. The Tidewell Grief Education and Support Center serves many of the survivors from these tragedies and supports efforts aimed at prevention of su***de. http://www.heraldtribune.com/article/20110703/OPINION/110709948
Sarasota's su***de issue The recent su***des of three Sarasota County teenagers generated news coverage, commentary from the community and expressions of concerns about the mental health of young people.
