Froedtert Health is looking for a dedicated RN with a passion for post-op care for our extended recovery unit. The Staff Registered Nurse is a practitioner who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an identified group of patients in an inpatient environment. This individual demonstrates competency in delivery of care to a primarily adult population. The position would be located at Froedtert Hospital.
The ideal candidate for this role has experience in post-op care and a BSN.
About the unit
The ERU provides overnight care for patients recovering from outpatient surgery and certain GI or Interventional Radiology procedures. The majority of surgical patients cared for are those recovering from Eye, Oral, ENT, Orthopedic, Plastic, Urology, GYN, and General Surgery.
There are a total of 14 beds designated for Extended Recovery Unit patients:
•8 beds in the ERU
•6 beds on 4P
The patients staying in ERU beds receive quality care throughout their stay and are typically ready for discharge by 10:00 am the morning following their surgery or procedure.

Qualifications:
Clinical competence and experience in the care and management of target patient populations specific to area of employment.
Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of education at an accredited School of Nursing in order to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse is required. Upon hire any non-BSN nurse with less than one year of licensed registered nurse experience will be required to enroll in a BSN (or higher nursing degree) program. Responsibilities of the Operating Room/Surgery Nurse Circulator
* Direct care provider who assists surgeons with surgical procedures and acts as the patient and patient's family advocate.
* He/she consistently applies and utilizes the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills and leadership in accordance with the Association of Perioperative Nursing (AORN) standards and Hospital policy to independently deliver safe perioperative nursing care to patients.
* Communicates and utilizes interpersonal skills effectively and role models confidence and professionalism within nursing as evidenced by active engagement in unit and organizational activities.
* Demonstrates team work and adaptability and is a resource person to the patient care team.
Requirements of the Operating Room/Surgery Nurse Circulator
* Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, Associates degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred
* Nursing license in Texas
* Minimum of 2 year clinical experience as a licensed RN
* Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in the OR
