Day 12 and the picture is the river crossing of about 5 metres wide, but we both nearly fell in. 21km today but was very hot and sandy too, so I am tired.

My first attempt at NZ's Te Araroa trail. Nine hours through Herekino forest! It was a muddy hell. A persistent knee problem saw me quit the trail just after a couple of weeks. I didn't have the mental toughness back then either, but I know I do now. I will be back one day to do the TA, all 3000 km of it.
