🏮🌕🏮 Happy Mid-Autumn Festival 🐰🌕🐇 Did you ever wonder why the rabbit is the mascot of the Moon Festival?

Today is the yearly Mid-Autumn festivalfollowing the lunar calendar. The Mid-Autumn Festival is an important day to celebrate the Harvest FULL MOON 🌕 when people & the moon reunite to form a FULL circle. Usually, the jade rabbit is the main character in one of the famous Chinese Mid-Autumn stories. The noble Moon Rabbit, also called the "Jade Rabbit", lives on the moon. Chinese folklore is often portrayed as a companion of the moon goddess Chang'e, constantly pounding the elixir of life for her. But why a rabbit?

Once upon a time, three animals were living in a forest 🌳🌳🌳: a fox 🦊, a rabbit 🐰, and a monkey 🐵. The three immortals, pretending to be old beggars, went through the forest asking for food. The fox and the monkey quickly offered them food. The rabbit, who had no food but was very pious, felt guilty. She said, “I’m so sorry I couldn’t offer any food to help you, but I can give myself,” and jumped into the fire.

The three immortals were moved by the rabbit’s sacrifice and decided to make the rabbit immortal, sending her to live in the Moon Palace with Goddess Chang’e.

Therefore, nowadays, when Chinese people decorate the Mid-Autumn Festival, they use the rabbit as one of the decorations. Folklore throughout Asia has long held the rabbit as a symbol of rebirth commonly taken to represent the moon.

These monthly reproduction activities coincide with the moon's cycle; Thus, rabbits are often related to fruitfulness and the moon. Another more figurative explanation is that ancient people worldwide thought that the moon's dark markings looked like a rabbit's shape, thus associating the two. 2023 is the year of the Rabbit, makes the rabbit even more special for the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival in the Rabbit year! That’s why I made this art piece ✨🌕🐰✨

Look up to the sky tonight, and I hope you will see a beautiful full moon glowing in the night sky 🌕

✨🌕 🐇 🥮 ✨

Happy World Emoji Day!!! So I recently learned pretty soul-crushing news "There won't be new emoji in 2021 because of coronavirus!" 😱🤯😲😳 (https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/12/business/new-emoji-apple-android-2021-postponed/index.html).

HOW COULD THIS BE TRUE??? As we know, emojis have been significant expressions for billions of people from around the world. They allow people of all ages to communicate with each other so much more joy, surprise, and innuendo. As an emoji connoisseur, I felt compelled to create more new content about emoji as a visual language to help people through this trying time.

So I start this heroic project called "Let's Talk Emoji," where I will be posting monthly videos (irregularly) to show my knowledge about this magnificent visual language: Emoji!

I plan to my creative experience of designing the 🥟🥢🥠🥡🦚 and upcoming boba (https://www.latimes.com/food/story/2020-03-06/boba-emoji-yiying-lu) emojis, conversation with other emoji creators, and emoji experts, etc.

But, first thing first, so what does the word "Emoji" actually mean?

How design transformed an out-of-business sushi chain into the multi-million dollar No. 1 sushi brand in Australia

My creative process behind the award-winning Cross-Cultural Sushi Brand Wasabi Warrior. The original name of the company was called "Go Sushi", it was about to go out of business after the '08 financial crisis. The company founder worked with my studio. We rebranded the company to "Wasabi Warrior", and I create a new logo, mascot, and entire branding style guide for the packing and store design. This redesign campaign completely transformed this out-of-business company into a multi-million dollar sushi brand, currently is one of the most successful sushi Franchises. Now they have successfully expanded to Hong Kong and the Philippines.

and thank you Alexander for capturing this.

In 2017, I had a rare opportunity to interview one of the world most celebrated & respected graphic designer, Milton Glaser. Milton's work, including the iconic the 'I ❤ NY' logo, the psychedelic Bob Dylan poster, and the Brooklyn Brewery logo, has impacted generations of designers around the world.

During our conversation, Milton raised a very interesting point - "He doesn't believe in logic" and here is why:
