We all crave human connection, but it can be hard to know how to make it. Shyness, introversion, and Covid protocols can get in the way of fulfilling the desire to connect. Behavioral scientist and author Jon Levy shows us simple practical strategies everyone can use to build trust and deeper connection, whether it’s for business or to make and deepen personal connections.

With re-entry to life after covid comes to a lot of excitement, but also some anxiety of its own. After more than a year of living a very different life, what will it be like to “go back to normal?” is there such a thing as normal? Some of us have discovered as much as we hated being stuck home alone, strangely, the idea of going out to see people again may seem odd now. How do we successfully re-enter? And how do we take what we learned from the pandemic, and translate it into post-traumatic growth, rather than post-traumatic stress?

Our guest this week, Dr. Diana hill, is here to help thoughtfully guide the way, with practical methods and powerful insights.

In this episode of Untangle, I talk with Dr. Steven Gundry about how the trillions of bacteria in our microbiome dramatically affect our levels of energy and our mood and even our weight loss. He shows us how to keep them fed and happy to keep us literally happy and functioning optimally.

In this very fun and informative episode, Dr. Gundry walks us through the fascinating science of how exactly it is that the “farts” from the miniature organisms in your gut improve the function of your brain, and how and why you should care for them.

This Holocaust Remembrance day, remembering all 4 of my grandparents, who where lucky enough to be Holocaust survivers, while 50-70% of their immediate relatives were killed simply because they were jews.
Bubby Chaija and Zeida Meyer Garten, who by luck survived in labour camps Uzbekistan and Siberia while many of their siblings and cousins perished under Hitler's hand.

My grandfather Steven Reiss and Grandmother Marianne Riess Balshone who survived in Budapest Hungary. Steven was marched to the edge of the Danube river to be shot into it, but my grandmother Marianne called Roul Walenberg to go and declare Steven and the Jews he was with as Swedish citizens and saved them.

On Holocaust Remembrance day, we remember to *never let hated divide people against each other*. And we also remember the courage of heros, like Raul Wallenberg, to stand up for what was right, even at the expense of their own lives.

My grandmother was a holocaust speaker, inspiring people to find the heroism inside themselves, inside any act of courage and humanity. You can watch her tell her story of surviving the holocuast and herosim at www.mariannebalshone.com.

Her story and more of my relatives stories can be read in the book Determined by Benjamin Balshone (on Amazon!)

Before she passed away, I was lucky enough to do a Ted talk with her and my mother, which can be found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0F7bnNbEHEI (or google "ariel garten meaning of freedom")

I've captured Chaja and Meyer's family stories at www.schnallandgarten.com

I'm proud to support bringing Holocaust, moral and compassion education into schools.

I'm lucky enough that my grandparents escaped alive and to have had my grandparents as role models- real survivors, each dealing with the scars of war in different ways. It's only through the heroism of Raul Wallenberg directly saving Steven Reiss that I am on this planet.

Be kind to your neighbour, do not let seeds of hatred turn you against him. Stand up against hatred when you see it, call it out, and meet it with love and dignity.

NEVER AGAIN.

Standing in your powering and KNOWING you’re enough can feel awkward. 🤨

it can feel awkward not to...

👉🏻Please people
👉🏻Hustle for your worth
👉🏻Try and save everyone
👉🏻Overcompensate
👉🏻Overperform
⠀.. yunno all the s**t we try and do to feel enough, to receive love and to feel validated?

This emoji describes the feeling perfectly -> 🤮

Here’s the thing sis, you’re so much more powerful and will feel a deep sense of inner love when you’re not LOOKING TO RECEIVE IT...✨

There is nothing you need to do to be worthy - you already are...

There is nothing you need to do to receive love - you already ARE love...

There is nothing you need feel powerful - you already are...

Stand tall and SHINE in your power - be the light for others that they need - in a world of darkness we need you to know all you are is LIGHT, not pretend it didn’t exist ;)

I love yassss💓

I had a beautiful experience being photographed by Melanie Gordon - Family, Portrait, and Fine Art Photographer for her Portraits Of Presence.

Normally when you are photographed you get self-conscious and try to show your best self. With Melanie, I felt like my essence of who I was was being captured. What I looked like didn't matter at all. All self-reference there dropped away. I knew whatever she captured - me, real, in the moment - had to be beautiful as it was my soul.

If you'd like to have this experience, or need shots of yourself, Melanie still has a few spots open to shoot your Portrait of Presence on Oct 12th. These are portrait sessions that are about illuminating your PRESENCE and reminding you of your infinite power and beauty that is accessible to you at all times. Contact her directly,

Neuroscience, Art, & Innovation: My Story

I am lucky to be able to call myself one of the Founders of InteraXon, makers of Muse: the brain sensing headband. Muse is the award-winning headband that makes meditation easier. During guided exercises, Muse senses your brain activity and sends that information to your phone or tablet, giving you real time audio feedback to help take the guesswork out of meditation. Hundreds of thousands of people use Muse, with over 5 million meditations sessions with Muse to date.

Before founding InteraXon, I studied neuroscience at the University of Toronto and worked in labs at Toronto’s Krembil Neuroscience Centre researching Parkinson’s disease and hippocampal neurogenesis. I was trained as a Neuroscientist and Psychotherapist in private practice, but in addition to geeking-out in the lab, I loved art, and making things in every form. I began designing my own fashion line that ended up being quite successful: my clothes appeared in stores internationally, my designs opened for the Toronto Fashion Week in '03, and my work was displayed at the Art Gallery of Ontario. It was my uncommon combination of science and art that was integral to the design of Muse and to InteraXon’s unique approach to brain sensing technology.

Having worked with BCI (brain computer interface) technology since 2003 in the lab of Dr. Steve Mann, I recognized the opportunity to commercialize technology that would fundamentally disrupt multiple markets. My entrepreneurial head combined with my fascination with the brain and curiosity to find tangible ways to improve it lead me to join forces with two friends where we founded a Silicon Valley backed startup that allowed people to control computers with their minds, the technology that lead to Muse. We founded InteraXon to this end, in 2009. InteraXon debuted with the creation of "Bright Ideas", Ontario's feature showcase at the 2010 Winter Olympics, where visitors in Vancouver got to control the lights on the CN Tower, Niagara Falls and the Canadian Parliament buildings with their minds, from across the country. At InteraXon, we merge technology, neuroscience, art, and design. Myself and Muse are regularly lauded in global media: CNN, Forbes, Popular Science, CNET, CNBC, VentureBeat, TechCrunch, Wall Street Journal Tech and more, for creating what Huffington Post calls "the beautiful headband that will make you smarter".

These days, I can be found at home playing with my 2 year old or on stages across the world speaking about happiness, meditation, understanding mental health, or telling my innovation story, consistently working towards destigmatizing mental health and giving my audiences some tools they can use to help them become their best selves. In fact, I am determined to help as many people as possible undo the knots in their heads and ultimately help people understand their brains better in order to lead healthy, happy lives, free of all the limiting beliefs that stand in their way. My journey has undoubtedly been a unique one, a crazy technology company that has been amazingly successful. I’ve never let her negative thoughts stand in my way and my mission is to be able to empower others to do the same!
