Conservation begins with education. Building empathy for the ocean means helping people make those connections at a personal level. Touching tide-pools is not just for kids!
Seattle Aquarium's hands-on tide pool experience is a touch of luxury The Seattle Aquariumβs open-system Life on the Edge habitat offers a unique tide-pooling experience where everything in the touch tank can be (gently) touched.

I wanted to be a veterinarian growing up as a kid. I didn't have the chops for it, but feel lucky to have several veterinarians as friends.
So many talented experts at the Seattle Aquarium are passionate about marine animals, conservation and educating us about what these amazing creatures face in the wild! Such a privilege to learn from people who have spent a lifetime working to save and protect these animals and their ocean home.
The doctors (and techs) are in: Getting to know the Seattle Aquarium's veterinary care team Meet the team working to provide round-the-clock medical care for every animal at the Seattle Aquarium.
You don't truly understand how little you know until you consistently surround yourself with changemakers who know more. This Microsoft team is amazing. Big gratitude for sharing their work at our latest Puget Sound Research Forum luncheon.
If you are just posting on social media without leveraging the data you are already losing. Come check out this month's Puget Sound Research Forum lunch on March 28th and learn how to take action on your social media data!
The Puget Sound Research Forum is looking for more board members. A great opportunity to learn more about marketing research careers, case studies and the industry.
Meet PSRF Board Member Sue Evans!
β
How did you first become involved with PSRF?
I saw a LinkedIn post by PSRF Board Member Bobbie Bailey, the CEO of her own business M Agency. She invited me out for coffee to learn more. Bobbie and I both live in Pierce County and had worked on marketing projects together.
β
What is your career background?
My background is grounded in journalism, issue advocacy, media relations and public relations. After leaving journalism, I worked in state politics and for the Washington State Association for Justice. I have also worked on a number of local and national campaigns. We obviously did a lot of research on what motivates people in politics and issues. I later moved on to a full service public relations agency: Pyramid Communications. I developed their media relations department working on media, crisis communications, issue advocacy, nonprofits and law firm marketing. We still partner on projects.
In 2010, I made the leap to go out on my own and start Northwest Media Allies consulting. I am currently working with the Seattle Aquarium as it prepares to open its new Ocean Pavilion this summer. I love their mission to inspire marine conservation.
β
What's your favorite part of being a market researcher?
While I do gather the intelligence necessary to define a client's market position, I rely on marketing research pros when I need to dig deep. The marketing research pros active in PSRF take it to an entirely new level that is so much more comprehensive. All of us in PSRF are obviously curious about what motivates people and drives human behaviors.
I value the leverage research insights offer your clients to win the day. I encourage my clients to invest in research. I think it's often mistakenly overlooked by clients. Research shows you how to best invest your marketing budget. Why would you waste client dollars when you can buy a road map?
β
What do you do for fun outside of work? π΄ πΎ πΈ
I have 25-year-old Percheron/Thoroughbred horse who is still going strong galloping on the trails with me. His nickname is the Donut. I also have a black German Shepherd Bogie I'm always training and comes along on trail rides with the horse sometimes. He is always on a leash in case we run into other equestrians, coyotes, bears or other dogs on the trails. I am currently developing a new animal photography business and specialize in animal action photos and portraits. I'm absolutely obsessed with all things photography. You can follow me on Instagram .
Looking forward to this one! Who doesn't want to know how to better leverage social media data?

"Over the past six years, I've collaborated with a team of dedicated, hardworking social research managers, bravely venturing into uncharted territories to harness the power of organic social media data to tackle questions traditionally addressed by marketing research. Our collective goal has been to pioneer innovative solutions mirroring research methodologies such as product satisfaction, semiotics, brand perception measurement, and audience comprehension. My role was to craft a business model for this endeavor, emphasizing its value proposition and establishing a distinctive positioning. Together, we've crafted something truly extraordinary and remarkably innovative. Today, our efforts received recognition at the Social Intelligence Insider 50 ceremony, where I was honored with one of the two Changemaker 2024 awards."
