Are you looking to build your yoga practice this year? There are still spots left in my 6-week workshop called Foundations of Yoga that begins this Saturday!
Each week, I'll breakdown everything from the breath, how to get in and out of poses safely, and how to modify poses for your body. Unlike classes where you log on and go, we'll take time to check in with one another and answer any questions that you have, and troubleshoot whatever comes up.
You will receive access to video recordings in case you miss a class, as well as a mid-week check-in email to support you throughout your journey.
Don't wait. Invest in yourself this year and let's build a strong foundation together.

āWhen I put down what is not mine to carry, I am free...

Thank you, Octavia for this beautiful work that will be the anchor of many a meditation to come.

I've been silent for a while and because I believe in the power of words and saying s**t that matters, I've struggled to find words significant enough for such a time as this. I wrote a blog post titled "a Call to Breathe," here's an excerpt.
"Breathing centers our minds and bodies. It can calm us and help us to make more grounded decisions when emotions and tensions are both high. It could save a life. It could change the outcome of a decision. Whether youāre protesting on the street, or scrolling at home, baby breathe. Before engaging with that person online, breathe. Decide if itās worth your energy and if it aināt then cancel it. Breathe before reposting. That breath is just enough time for you to ask yourself āhow will this impact my followers? Does my audience actually need to see this right now?ā Breathe as a form of resistance. Breathe for those who used their last words to tell us that they couldnāt. Breathe before you cuss they ass out, and maybe you wonāt want to anymore. Maybe you will, and if you do, youāll have done it with intention instead of an out of control emotional reaction--reclaim that power."
You can read the rest of it on my website, where you will also find my class offerings this week. https://www.blackmatyoganyc.com/blog/acalltobreathe

About Eric Mosley, founder of Black Mat Yoga NYC
Eric Mosley is a Yoga Alliance registered yoga and meditation teacher on a mission to decolonize the western wellness experience, and encourage all people--particularly people of color--to bring their most authentic selves to their mats. With a background in education and school leadership spanning over 10 years, he launched Black Mat Yoga NYC to address identity based inequities in wellness spaces.
By using current events, curated playlists, physical asana and meditation practice, Black Mat Yoga NYC specializes in capitalizing on the human experience to create conditions in which practitioners feel safe and connected on their mats. Since launching earlier this year, he has worked with yogis of all ages in studio spaces, private lessons, and school and corporate settings.
Eric integrates the nuances of his identity and his experiences as an educational leader in his offerings. His passion for social-emotional learning, data-driven instruction, and the intersections of race, gender and sexuality, allows Eric to "make it make sense" making yoga accessible to newer and seasoned yogis.
Eric is a Morehouse College graduate, received his Masters in Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education, and completed his 200 hour teacher training at Three Sisters Yoga in New York City.
