Asthma is a respiratory condition that causes difficulty breathing, wheezing, and coughing due to the narrowing of the airways in the lungs. Asthma management involves taking medications as prescribed, following your asthma action plan, and avoiding potential triggers such as smoking, pollutants, pollen, dust mites, cold air, etc. Allergy treatment is available if needed. Regular follow-up appointments with a healthcare provider are necessary for effectively managing symptoms.

They include staying in the shade and wearing clothing, hats, and sunglasses that cover exposed areas. A broad-spectrum sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 or higher will also be helpful.

Mr. Smith's daughter graduated from high school and moved away for college a month ago. He is proud of her milestone and wants to make plans for the free time he will start having. He considers investing more in his health and well-being. Exercise, a healthy diet, and regular physical/screening will go a long way.
At the age of 45, Mr. Smith can talk to his primary care doctor (P*P) about colon cancer screening options which include a colonoscopy, a flexible sigmoidoscopy, and a stool test. Colonoscopy is the most sensitive test for detecting abnormalities (such as inflammation, polyps, cancer, etc.) and has rare complications. These exams are preventive measures which often covered by an individual's insurance.
Mr. Smith and his P*P may decide to go with a colonoscopy. If the result shows no abnormalities, given no other risks of colon cancer, it is recommended to repeat the colonoscopy every ten years. A futuristic decade later, he has scheduled another screening colonoscopy. At that time, he may also enjoy the presence of his one-year-old grandson during a weekend visit.
