gofundme.com Hey friends Some of you may remember that insane bladder surgery I had last year. Many of you helped and supported my recovery and the last year and a half has been amazing! I lost about 35 pounds, stayed at my job and continued to kick ass, and even started dating again! Then, the unexpected h...

This is an easy way to help protect our water.
www.gofundme.com My new friends at Standing Rock need $2700 to finish paying off and take possession of a truck to haul wood for their sweat lodge. They are a smaller camp and not on the donation pipeline of the bigger more publicised camps but are doing equally important work in keeping the prayer going. Any a...
My shoulders are round and broad
Much too wide to be ignored
Strong enough for wings
The sky is a constant poem
Insistent of its cerulean right to vast
I only give its wide self berth
When it is draped in lavender
Dappled in cloud
I once ran like a child through the rain
Slipped and fell like an old woman
Roots curled into a fist and hit me hard
The next day my flesh bloomed purple and green
A tender reminder of how long I have survived
The only ancestors I have in recent memory
That lived so long
Are too modern for me to romanticize
So I fashion a future
From the scraps left by those I can imagine knowing well
Knit together with hubris and wish
Some nights
A deep blue light will not leave the air
And everything seems sadder than it is
The mornings that come after
Are more heartbreakingly golden
I find my way to the sun
Gripping a hot cup
Squinting at the love of it all

Wildflowers are defiant
Adamantly brilliant
Against the screaming green of Spring
Colors
Like the fully loaded cocked hip of a free woman
Like the first full throated cry of ecstasy ever let loose
Like triumph at long godless last my lord
Like hope
Wildflowers are sudden and brief
And they demand attention
Knowing this
And like the very quickened sap
That thrusts them into now
I lust forward
I lunge within
(All my very liquid self towards)
That vivid nexus whim
I dare you
To argue for audience
To spin some darkened cloth
While seeing the living light
Caught in these roadside smiles
With opened eyes
Throw back to that time we played at Ed Ivey's club.
50 Mason Social House
What if we burst forth
From our indulgent slumber
What if we ripped our golden poppy colored hearts
From the screaming green
Roots ripping
Only a future possible
The past so irrelevant
It becomes embarrassing
What if we denied the laziness
That threatens to strangle us
While we laugh at the commercials with shows in between
What if we did explosive truth in brilliant hues
With scarves of moonlight
And midnight blue
There is a small hollow
In the woods
In my throat
In my hand
We should explore its boundaries
Some fog wrapped afternoon
And defy the sleep
That steals our hearts
Let's travel between the pavements and doorways
To the places
We once made
