Wednesday June 31 the some board members of Laguna Beach Garden Club were fortunate enough to have a private tour of Hortense Miller Garden located in Boat Canyon of Laguna Beach. What a gem that our city has and it is open to the public through appointments using City’s website. Hortense Miller had this garden & house built in 1957-8 and in the 1980-90s gifted the property to the city with the caveat that she could live out her remaining days there. She lived to be 100. The Friends of Hortense Miller Foundation was created as a non-profit & volunteers maintain & take care of the property.
If you have never seen this hidden gem or it has been a while since you have been there, please do yourself a favor & go. Absolutely fabulous with a very unique mid-century modern home & 2.5 acres of gardens filled with terraced paths.
Happy August!

Happy 4th of July!
The Laguna Beach Garden Club members (only) enjoyed a special treat this beautiful Saturday morning. Monica Thompson invited the members to tour her spectacular historic garden in North Laguna. They were surprised by the gorgeous flowers and abundance of fruits and vegetables grown in her front yard. A healthy amount of milkweed provides the butterflies with a great habitat to lay their chrysalis found throughout her garden.
