What makes people choose YOU over them?
❌It’s not the next best bonus.
❌It’s not the upsell.
❌It’s not your offer.
❌it’s not the best price.

✅It’s the post and email you made where you for vulnerable. The one they commented on and felt your feelings.

That made them think hmmm that Hilary, damn I can relate.

I don’t have big vanity metrics, but I have followers who I connect with on SUCH a deep level.

I could careless if they buy from me, but they’ll share my stories. And THAT is what social media is all about.

Connection.

- Hired my first hire to team HK! And she’s already crushing it.

- Joined a Media Mastermind- learning so much! (Stay tuned when opens up the next one, Forbes here you come!)

- Client had a multiple 6 figure launch!

- Did ghost writing for a dream client

- Featured in podcast behind the Spotlight

- Had a happy hour with the 9 ladies on my mastermind starting this month!

- Locked down our retreat house, and fancy brand photographer (yep all free for these ladies in the mastermind. Next one launching this fall.😄)

- Behind the scenes huge launch for a favorite client coming up next month- but an epic pre launch in the works!

- Mapped out my entire year with

- Did a 3 day workshop for a high ticket coach on all things branding, messaging, content and storytelling with

- Soccer practice, swim lessons, ninja warrior started back up for kids!

BREAST PUMPS AND AUTHENTICITY: (not just for mom’s to read)

I said I’d NEVER pump.
As in pump my breasts everyday.
But here we are 4th baby in, and do it.
Everyday.
In fact, I went all out and now have 2 pumps even.
You can be authentic and change your mind.

In fact, it's more authentic to change your mind.

Humans are constantly changing their mind.

It’s the most authentic thing you can say:
“This is what I believe to be true right now in this moment.”

I feel that most people that sell online courses aren’t teachers, they are marketers.

If you’re motivated to sell, and not actually teach- its focused around what others are doing.

I don’t really want to do this big funnel and trick people into buying my s**t.

Instead of an online course being a gateway into another funnel, maybe we should think of them as “How can I make this course so massively valuable that it will change your life?”

And a by product of that- is they will have such great success, and get so much value from it, they will ask “how do I work with you?”

But when creating it give all your information, teach them, tell them, give them all your value. From a place of aubudance, authenticity, and surrendering the outcome that you eventually desire.

Help First.

So many times we are sold to “this will change your life!”
>>When we know in our hearts, it was just created to change theirs.

Those are not course creators.

Those are not coaches.

Those are glorified marketers.

Sleeper Launch.

I use this when an explaining a launch, that you only do to your email list.

It’s pretty much the most non-stressful launch you can have.

Well s**t.

I had a failed launch.

Let’s talk about the main reason why.

Reasons why launches fail are usually due to 2 factors:

1. Your offer

2. Your audience

But there is this weird underlying factor that not as many talk about… but it's there.

It’s your mindset.

I hated working on my mindset. It was stupid. I don’t need to get all spiritual and woo woo and deep breaths and talk about my energy. That’s complete bulls**t.

Here’s the reason why my launch failed though, yeah- it was my mindset.


I had a bomb ass email masterclass and I was going to sell into a mini mastermind on email.

But in the back of my mind I didn't REALLLLLY want to do a mastermind.
We were moving.
It was stressing me out to think about it… but I thought I “should” do it because it was the most natural and organic thing to do after nearly 100 people paid me for my masterclass.

My coach was like “OMG you’re going to get 10 people in!”

And I was all like “OMG yeah that would be great.”
but then in my head I was like f**k my life noway I do NOT want 10 people in that. 🤢


So I casually said it after my masterclass. Crickets. (thank god)

It was a fail.

It wasn’t the offer or the audience because here’s the thing, I launched an email mastermind a few months later that sold out in 48 hours.

YOU DON’T NEED TO BE TYPE A TO MAKE IT. ⁣

I have type A clients. I love them. They need that routine on lock. ⁣

But, What if I told you I won a program Jenna Kutcher had then made a good chunk of money without a clear path written out or planned. ⁣anddd went on her podcast without a script written. 😬

>>That you can make money, and not have a morning routine? ⁣

I roll out of bed, kiss my kids, and keep my pajamas on until... whenever. ⁣

My house isn’t spotless. ⁣

So you listened to the podcast on high performers. And you bought the planner. Read the book. Cool, me too. ⁣

But it isn’t my vibe. ⁣

After hours on calls yesterday with a 6 and 7 figure CEO’s one thing stood out... ⁣
they all don’t want or need strategy. ⁣

They all want to know they can still be successful if they take Friday off. If they close the computer at 4pm it’s all good. If they never work a Sunday again nobody will die. Permission to be relaxed. The world tells them only type A, enneagram 1’s and 3’s are the ones who make it. So they keep trying to fit that bubble most days. ⁣

The grind will always be there- heck I stayed up until 10:40 working last night. ⁣
I have adhd and get compulsive over things I love to do. That’s just me. I don’t have time or energy to do things that don’t light me up. ⁣

💌My ode to you if you the world is telling you to be something you’re not. I tried it. It doesn’t work. ⁣

Go be you, and be highly highly successful no matter your Type B-ness. ⁣

If you’re a past teacher or one who is trying to make it your side business... it’s not anything like what you have been doing in the past.

Kacy Barron and I talked about this yesterday.

WHY TEACHERS/EDUCATORS STRUGGLE TRANSITIONING TO AN ONLINE BUSINESS:⁣

As a teacher you come up with the content, and teaching it to either other teachers who h a v e to be there for their job, or students who have to be there because it’s basically the law. ⁣

You are used to coming from that angle, which is create your content, strategy, or plan then teach your “students”. You never have to go out and find someone to listen to your lesson plan.⁣

It’s what works in that type of world and setting because you essentially have all these people who have to listen to your lesson plan, your teaching, your training. 😅⁣

But it’s not how it works in the online world. ⁣

There are a ton of amazing teachers out or people in education who are so great at teaching and likely course building but they have no clue how to sell because they have always just had a captive audience. ⁣

Or one that “has” to listen. ⁣

Nobody has to buy your course. ⁣

We can’t essentially keep creating the plan or the course and then think people will buy it. ⁣

We have to know what the captive audience wants. ⁣

😧And you have to go find them! ⁣

A timeline of my last 6 months.

March- launched my second mini mastermind (5 ladies) celebrated my first $1,000 made in my own business. Found out we were having baby number 4. All kids home indefinitely. Tyler Homeschooling 2 girls with a wild little brother.

April- invested 5 figures into a business coach and mastermind group with 5 other women. Sold out my first time offering 1 to 1 coaching in 48 hours. 🙃 launched a course.

May- started to feel the pull to move back to Minnesota. Made some big financial goals. Hit them. Launched Ty’s course! Supported my family money wise while Tyler supported me and crushed dad life. 👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨

June- Tyler Offered dream job in a Minnesota school district. Had a sold out Masterclass all around Email story-selling.

July- officially sold our half of our CrossFit gym, moved to Minnesota with 3 kids + pregnant. starting working for 2 lady bosses mid-move. Realized that wasn’t so smart. Needed to set more time boundaries.

August- bought my kids the crazy trampoline after a $uccessful month of July. started doing a lot more duel work with biz bestie Nicole. Clients combined had over $250,000 in sales this month.

September- biggest month in sales for me. Re-signed almost all my 1 to 1’s currently to come back after I pop baby out. Launched a free 5 day show up series. Putting together one last 30 day coaching/mastermind program.

🔥The hottest tip of them all;
I went from 0-100 in 6 months because of 3 factors:

>Serving.
>Showing up.
>Being my authentic self.

Biggest take away, when you invest in yourself and believe you can do it, sky the limit.

My Free 5 days series I ran in a facebook group had SO much engagement Facebook actually shut off comments for a little bit after 72 hours.

Same goes for email... your email open rate sucks?
It's not the provider. It's not fully mailchimp, or flodesk, or covert kit, or kajabi.

It's you.
Ouch does that sting a little bit?
Evaluate who your ideal client is,
What are their needs?
What do they want to see?
What do they need help with?
And how can you be the solution.

Stop catering your content around your brand and what you want, and start catering to the people who will pay you money.

Unless of course you run your group as a hobby or you write emails just for funsies. Then just keep on doing what you're doing- because you're going to get what you always got.

How do you keep the momentum going after you gained a little traction when you’re just starting out?
Answer; you make sure you have the support you need when those fears doubts and thoughts like: I don’t have time, nobody will buy from me, I’ll just stay hiding behind building instead of growing...
We are all tested by our own thoughts everyday. And it takes practice to learn how to grow in abundance.

I know that,
Nows not a good time.
Next month won’t be either.

You must be intentional.
And a secret- when you pay for something yourself you start to realize your worth because YOU invested, so others can invest like you.
It’s like this crazy law of attraction.

Do you get lit up after you get off a call with a client...you’re like DAMN! They are making moves! YESSSS.

This isn’t all the time for me in all honesty.
(Let me bring you back down to my 3 kids and being pregnant reality here.)

BUTTT It’s super hard to sell someone a service when you don’t feel that passion. Or you have an internal resistance. Or maybe you don’t actually love the offering itself.

You don’t have to fall in love with selling, but you do need the belief that you are doing a disservice to the world by not having your offering out there- and then creating the selling strategy behind it will make it heck of a lot easier to implement.

[I find this is why a lot of people in Multi Level Marketing Companies flop. They are sold on the idea of time freedom. and not sold on the product themselves.]

Fall in love with what it is that you offer.

Get crystal clear on how you can help.

Go out and change some lives.

How to create 3 emails in 10 minutes around your launch... without a plug in template. ⁣

sound like what you need? ⁣

Blank screen of death. ⁣
Don’t want your emails to sound like everyone else’s. ⁣
Writers block. ⁣

1. I keep a running list of stuff that happens throughout the day. With some of my clients I let them talk for our first 15 minutes. And say this a lot “ohhh that would make a good email!!” Brainstorm with yourself. ⁣
2. I then put in the transitional piece- it looks like this: “so now you’re wondering if you should build an online course about homeschooling? Let me tell you yes, people are looking for this like toilet paper back in May. Grab my 3 step process on course creation here—>” ⁣
3. The Story, Teach, Tool ⁣

Use this in your launch emails.⁣

Hook them in with the story. (That you brainstormed from the day/week) ⁣

Teach them what they need, ⁣

give them the tool- which is you! ⁣

Was watching the weight of gold on HBO with my tiny downtime (that I usually pass out on the couch while I watch if I'm being honest.) ⁣

Have you seen that documentary? ⁣

It's basically Olympic athletes talking about how their life was defined by their gold metal. ⁣

They talked about how they had to live off $7,000 for an entire year, and a very very slim amount actually made money (Michael Phelps/Shawn White) ⁣

BUT there is a happy part to this, I was watching and thinking- ⁣
"Why didn't they run any pop up kids camps?" ⁣
"Why didn’t lolo jones do a seminar online on running form and drills?" ⁣
"Why didn't they create an online course for beginnings who want to be speed skaters?" ⁣

BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T KNOW THIS ONLINE WORLD EXSISTS! ⁣
I am sooo close to this 'genius' I suppose that I assume everyone knows about online course, online masterminds, online coaching. ⁣

But really… they don’t. ⁣
And that's where you come in- there is a freaking market just dying for your knowledge. Legit busting at the seams of take my money I want to learn from you. ⁣

We’re on the last days of clients launch who is about to hit $100,000 by teaching girls softball pitching drills. ⁣

The Brand Vibe dropping the knowledge bombs this mornning!

REALITY CHECK TIME: YOU ARE NOT THE HERO *snaps fingers*

I know, we all have a bit of a hero complex. A need to be wanted, save the day, shine on stage. But here’s the truth in running a thriving brand: it’s not about you.

I talk a ton about the importance of brand story. Because your story is your superpower. When communicated right, it sets you apart, attracts your tribe, and creates income and impact for the long run.

But in your story, you aren’t the hero. As talks about in , you are the guide …

👉🏽 You’re Yoda, not Luke
👉🏽 Dumbledore, not Harry
👉🏽 Mr. Miyagi, not the Kid

Our goal is not to fix the problem but to guide them with our expertise, experience, and empowerment.

It’s a small but powerful shift—for them AND for you.

Because the moment you realize that you do NOT have to save the day … that you are NOT responsible for their success … that it’s not “on you” to ensure they reach your goals … the more you get to show up with your best and give them the tools they need to turn into the hero they already are.

So, here are 3 simple ways to make your client the hero in your brand, not you:

1. RELATE TO THEM

This is where that cliche word “authenticity” comes in but listen—it matters! You want to empathize with them, show them you care, that you’ve been there. But please, don’t make stuff up 🙄

2. EXPOSE THE PROBLEM

If you’re not solving their biggest problem as it relates to your brand, then they don’t have a need for you. Period. So lay out the problem so clearly they can’t help but feel like you’re “telling their whole liiiiife...with your wordssss” Lauren Hill style 😏

3. GIVE THEM A PLAN

Step into your power, you may. The goal is to position yourself as someone in authority, an expert who KNOWS how to solve the problem better than any other person out there. Remember, they need a guide. Are you the right one? Tell them why!

I read an awesome post from about making changes in your habits. She explained it so well with habit stalking. 👇🏻

“Habit Stacking is here to help you life-hack the heck out of it! All you have to do is this: connect the new habit you want to develop, to a habit that has stuck around and is well formed. Some examples:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- After I make the bed in the morning I'll do 5 minutes of stretches on the bedroom floor.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- After I get the coffee brewing I will journal for 5 minutes by the kitchen table.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- When I walk my dog past the library, I will go up and down the stairs 5 times.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Making the bed, starting the coffee brewing, and walking the dog are habits that are already well-formed, so by connecting the new habits to this old habit you place it along the same neural pathway, making it easier for your brain to remember and initiate. Being specific about when, where and how long/much you'll do the new habit will also help it become more routine. Remember, you have to form the habit before you improve it, so start small and simple and work your way up!”
