This significant Buddhist festival marks the introduction of Buddhism to Sri Lanka by Arahat Mahinda Thero in te of Dharma Studies, in association with Office of International Affairs, Somaiya Vidyavihar University and the Sri Lankan Consulate General, celebrated Poson Full Moon Poya Day. This significant Buddhist festival marks the introduction of Buddhism to Sri Lanka by Arahat Mahinda Thero in the 3rd century BCE.

The celebration featured religious sermons, devotional songs, Poson lanterns, and Sri Lankan cultural performances. Several dignitaries attended the event, including H.E. Dr. Valsan Vethody, Consul General of Sri Lanka in Mumbai; Prof. Anita Kothare, Head and Associate Professor of the Department of Archaeology and Ancient Indian History at St. Xavier's College; H.E. Mr. Eddy Wardoyo, Consul General of Indonesia in Mumbai (TBC); Ms. Shirani Ariyarathne, Minister Commercial of Sri Lanka in Mumbai; Ms. Kanta Das, Consul from the Australian Consulate in Mumbai; Dr. Dhanashree Hardas; and Ms. Shahsiranga Jayasuriya, Vice Consul of Sri Lanka in Mumbai.

Shri Samir Somaiya, Chancellor of Somaiya Vidyavihar University, remarked, “This celebration at Somaiya Vidyavihar University exemplifies our mission to break barriers and foster mutual respect. We may come from different traditions, but together, we appreciate our shared humanity and build a world full of love and understanding."
