BIG CONGRATS to Lee Sobel Literary Agency clients Elizabeth Lamere and Laura Davis-Chanin on the sale of their biography of Alan Vega, iconic musician/artist. I will announce who the publisher is when the ink dries on the contract.
Before I launched GKM in 2020, years ago I used to publish actual print fanzines. Once upon a time, MTV came to visit me at my office to ask me about one of my 'zines.

NEW BOOK ALERT: That’s How Strong My Love Is by David Loehr. Wonderfully well-written with tons of great photos, the book targets rock 'n roll history buffs, James Dean fans, pop culture enthusiasts, and those interested in the gay rights struggle. It offers an inside look at the counterculture of the 60s, 70s, and 80s. I met David many years ago when he was one of very few American music promoters who put on rockabilly "weekenders." 4 years ago today on January 25, 2017, the world lost iconic television star Mary Tyler Moore. When I was a kid I watched the show religiously with my mom. Moore was a fascinating actress who led a very troubled life and overcame many obstacles. My client, author Herbie J Pilato, authored a terrific biography titled simply MARY. It is highly recommended. Check it out - it may make you want to throw your hat in the air just like she did in the opening credits of her beloved TV show.

Extremely sad to hear that Sylvain Sylvain has passed away. When I started my literary agency 5 years ago he was my first client. As a voracious reader of rock 'n roll memoirs, I had been thinking about who had not done a book yet that I wished I could read. Being a lifelong New York Dolls fan I approached Syl and with the help of amazingly talented author Dave Thompson we made Syl's memoirs a reality. Syl was a dream to work with --- very real, upbeat and a great storyteller. We lost one of my other clients last year (and another collaborator with Dave Thompson) Walter Lure. I consider myself very lucky to have worked with these musicians whose music has made my life so much better. RIP Jackson!

“Love is the most powerful force on earth and we have got to get this world back to it." A quote from my interview with Dee Wallace (E.T., Cujo, 3 From Hell, Blake Edward's 10 and over 200 more movies and TV appearances). This is by far the best interview I have had the pleasure of doing. There is no doubt in my mind why Dee Wallace is a huge success. She is super friendly, funny, open and caring -- everything your mom should be and everything Steven Spielberg saw in her when he cast her in a little movie called E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Check it out in Greasy Kidstuff Magazine: https://www.greasykidstuffmagazine.com/dee-wallace-interview
