Today! We’re playing a couple of free in-store shows at Assai Records! 12pm in Glasgow, 5pm in Edinburgh!
The new Blue Rose Code album “Bright Circumstance” is out today! I played all the guitars and mandolin on this album and I’m really proud to have been involved. I think the songs are some of the best Ross has ever written, the players on the album are all outstanding and it was a joy to work on. It is the best album we’ve made so far, so if you haven’t already, go and get it!
Also, this year marks 10 years that I’ve been playing in Blue Rose Code. I’m forever grateful to Ross for giving some wee kid the opportunity back then, and grateful for everything that’s come my way as a result. Here’s to another 10!
Now go get the album!
Who’s that on the bill right beneath ROBERT PLANT?!

Yes, that's me blagging my way through a mandolin solo, and no, I wasn't coming down from a 3 day bender, even though it looks like I was.
We went into the studio at the end of last year and recorded live videos of some songs from the upcoming new Blue Rose Code album. I love this one, it's one of my favourites that we've ever done in my time with BRC. This is "Easy As We Go".

I've really loved playing "North Ten" in it's entirety this year. The album was the first I ever heard of BRC, before I met Ross and had the opportunity to join the band.
This is us playing the album top to bottom, at The Live Room at Saltaire on Friday night. This is straight from the camera, exactly as you would've heard it if you were in the room. Some of it's true to the record, some of it not so much - Wanderlust has taken on a totally different form and we've turned The Last Days Of May into the Dire Straits song that never was.
It's been a joy to play this with these guys, and great to have this recording of it from what was my favourite show we played it at.
Thanks to John Dawson for the photo.

Being completely honest with you, live music is still a bit of a gamble these days - it's coming back strong, but there's a way to go yet, so it really would be great to see as many of you as possible at these shows! Bring your family, your friends, your neighbours, your dogs, go wild!
At with Blue Rose Code last month.
July! That was some month. 6 bands, 4 festivals, a show at Edinburgh Castle, a radio show, plus a bunch of private gigs, several thousand miles travelled and sleeping was replaced by drinking on more than one occasion. I'm totally knackered, but it's worth it.
