At the upcoming Hagerty Motorlux party, a celebration of automotive excellence and luxury at the Monterey Jet Center, we’re thrilled to unveil a new limited edition Meyers Manx powered by a radial airplane engine. This motor was created by Trousdale Ventures portfolio company Bespoke Engineering in Adelaide Australia for aviation use, and has been adapted for fast road use in our Costa Mesa facility.

Ultimate buggy!

53 years ago today, Apollo 15 Commander David Scott made history by driving the lunar roving vehicle on the Moon for the very first time! πŸŒ•πŸš€

Apollo 15 launched on July 26, 1971, and landed on the lunar surface on July 30, 1971. During this groundbreaking mission, Scott and lunar module pilot James Irwin spent over 18 hours exploring the Moon, collecting 170 pounds of lunar material.

Join us in celebrating this incredible milestone in space exploration! πŸŒŒπŸ‘¨β€πŸš€

Ultimate buggy!

The Apollo 15 Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV) at its final parking spot. The rover was 12.9 ft long (3.9 m) and 6 ft wide (1.8 m) and each wheel had a diameter of 2.6 ft. It arrived on the Moon folded into a compact package measuring only 5.5 x 5 x 3 ft, inside one of the quadrants of the Lunar Module, and automatically unfolded as the astronauts pulled it out. Despite its primitive appearance, it was a marvel of minimalist yet sophisticated engineering.

The LRV was capable of speeds up to above 9.3 mph (15 kph), although, on Apollo 17, Gene Cernan managed to push it to 11.2 mph (18 kph). Thanks to the rover, Commander Dave Scott and Lunar Module Pilot Jim Irwin were able to travel more than eight times the distance traveled during the previous mission, for a total of over 15.5 miles (25 km).
