Unexplained Weight Gain - Beating Sugar Have you ever stepped on the scale and lost your mind when you gained multiple pounds literally overnight? What's going on with the unexplained weight gain? Can you REALLY gain or lose weight in such a tiny time frame?
So you made promises to eat better and reduce sugar intake, but slipped back into old habits. Welcome to the club. It’s called "being human" (there are, like, 7 billion of us).
Here’s how to get back on track:

✔ Step 2: One Mistake Does Not Ruin Everything 🌿
All-or-nothing thinking is a trap. One bad choice doesn’t ruin everything. Focus on your next decision. One ‘Oops’ does NOT mean no other choices matter!

Keeping sugar at bay is about small wins over time. Choose fruit over cake, plan meals, and drink water instead of soda. Aim for getting on base every time versus swinging for a home run.
Together, we can beat sugar addiction and upgrade your life! 💬✨

101 - Beating Sugar Addiction with DanDeFigio by Unsweetened Sio In today's episode I had a lovely conversation with Dan DeFigio, author of "Beating Sugar Addiction For Dummies." We talked about sugar addiction and the importance of the WHY people eat versus the WHAT people eat. We also took some interesting side tangents so enjoy! Dan DeFigio is a well-known nut...
There is no progress in the comfort zone.
That goes for physical improvements, emotional improvements, business improvements, relationship improvements, and anything else you may want to change.
Former California Governor, action movie hero, and king of bodybuilding, Arnold Schwarzenegger, refers to the fact that growth only happens with pain.
Problem: The human brain is wired to avoid pain.
We want quick and easy fixes that don't require us to go through any discomfort.
We try to stay inside our comfort zone because, well, the comfort zone is comfortable! Even if we don't like what it's giving us, at least it's "the devil we know" as they say.
Whether it's working out, building a business, or simply going through real life...
change is usually uncomfortable.
Why?
Because most people go about implementing change all wrong.
If they want to change their eating, most people put themselves on over-restrictive, unsustainable diets. That suck. And we can't wait til the 21-day Wonder Woman Rocket or the 30-day Celestial Paradise Cleanse is finally over.
Or if they want to get into better physical shape, they join a gym. Where they're super uncomfortable because they don't know what they're doing. Or they start a home exercise program that's totally wrong for them, taught by some 6-pack over-enthusiastic underwear model who teaches lots of stuff wrong.
It all stinks.
But only because this is the terrible version of change!
But what if.......
you implemented a version of change that DIDN'T suck?
What if you made 1 or 2 easy improvements to your nutrition that were:
1) Delicious,
2) Easy, and
3) Very doable with minimal pain?
What if your new exercise program were put together by a professional coach so that:
1) It's the right level of difficulty for your current level of fitness,
2) It's comprised of exercises geared towards your specific issues, and
3) Your coach actually made it kinda FUN, so you didn't hate every minute of it?
Those are all ways to make changes that AREN'T painful!
So if you're considering trying some improvements this summer,
and you DON'T want to be miserable while you do it,
MESSAGE ME and ask for a time to talk!
Your friend and Coach,
Dan

Stay Hydrated 💧: Sometimes, thirst can be mistaken for hunger. Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Create a Nighttime Routine 🛌: Develop a relaxing evening routine to signal your body it's time to wind down, not eat.
Brush Your Teeth After Dinner 🪥: This simple trick can signal to your brain that mealtime is over.
Keep Healthy Snacks Handy 🍏: If you must snack, choose healthy options like fruits, veggies, or a handful of nuts.
Manage Stress 🧘♀️: Find stress-relief techniques that work for you, such as meditation, yoga, or reading.

We talked about Lesson #1 earlier, now let’s dive into some more strategies to help you beat those sugar cravings! 🌟
Our brains are naturally drawn to high-calorie, hyper-pleasurable foods, making it challenging to resist sweets. But we’re here to empower you with some tools!
Lesson #2: Don’t ask your hijacked brain to do portion control for you.
When you decide to indulge:
☑️ Set a sensible portion: Choose a small amount and move away from the “source” dish. 🚶♂️🍬
☑️ Use your rational brain: Before you start eating, decide how much is enough and stick to it.
Lesson #3: Challenge the hijacked brain’s assumptions.
Common faulty assumptions include:
• If food is in front of me, I have to eat it.
• If someone gives me something, I have to eat it.
• If there’s more food on my plate, I have to finish it.
Instead, ask yourself:
“How will I feel after I eat this?” 🤔
“Am I really hungry, or just eating because it’s there?” 🍽️
“What’s a sensible amount to enjoy?” 🧘♀️
Remember, two bites of anything is often enough to satisfy. Don’t let faulty assumptions lead you to overeat. You deserve better! 🌟
We’re hard-wired to crave sweets and fats – it’s all thanks to our caveman brains! 🧠🍪 But in today's world, this can lead to overindulgence in hyper-pleasurable foods that hijack our brain's ability to regulate appetite.
Eating Less Sweets, Lesson #1: Prep your brain with smart food first.
With parties and feasts everywhere, it's easy to dive into all the tempting treats. Here’s a strategy to keep your brain in check:
✔️ Eat a healthy snack before you go: Nibble on veggies, protein, and drink a big glass of water 💧 before hitting the event.
✔️ Mindful Choices: Once you're there, decide if you want a treat after having some wholesome food first.
By prepping your brain, you’ll be less likely to mindlessly overeat those brain-hijacking sweets. Stay in control and enjoy the festivities without overindulging! 💪✨
Share your experiences and tips below! Let's support each other in this journey. 🌟
Eating Less Sweets - Beating Sugar We're hardwired to crave sweets. There are ways to eat less sweets that don't involve cold-turkey deprivation. Here are 3 tips for eating less sweets:
Using food as a source of comfort is something most of us struggle with at some point. Emotional eating is often a tough topic, but it doesn’t have to be this way! Let’s talk about a strategy to help you manage those cravings: DO HALT.
During periods of stress, trigger times, or emotional urges, before you reach for food, stop and ask yourself:
• Am I Dehydrated? Thirst can mimic hunger. Drink a big glass of water first! 💧
• Am I Overwhelmed? Food can’t solve overwhelm. Seek peace and control through other means. 🧘♀️
• Am I Hungry? Physical hunger builds gradually and energizes you. Emotional hunger hits suddenly and leaves you feeling guilty. Check where you feel it and have a healthy snack if necessary. 🍎
• Am I Angry? Identify the cause of your anger and find a healthy outlet like exercise or meditation. 🏃♀️🧘♂️
• Am I Lonely? Reach out to a friend, take a walk, or engage in social activities. Pets can also be great companions! 🐶
• Am I Tired? Ensure you get enough sleep and eat regularly to avoid energy crashes. 😴
By improving your awareness of what you actually need, you can manage your cravings better.✨
These DO HALT Cravings - Beating Sugar Using food as a source of comfort is something most people struggle with at some point in their lives. Use the DO HALT method to overcome emotional eating.
