Do you have a gas-powered generator as part of your hurricane survival kit?

If you use a gas-powered generator to supplement lost power after a hurricane, it is crucial to follow some basic safety guidelines to ensure your wellbeing:

Never use a gas-powered generator indoors.
Make sure the generator is positioned at least 20 feet from your house with the exhaust port facing away from the structure.

Verify that your home is equipped with functional carbon monoxide detectors to alert vou in case any fumes or vapors seep into the residence.
These are just a few of the precautions that are essential for ensuring your safety when using a generator near your home.
