A man has appeared in court in relation to drugs offences in Northwich.

On Thursday 4 April, officers from Northwich Proactive and Beat teams executed a warrant at an address on Hesketh Drive and recovered a quantity of class A drugs, cash, and weapons.

Richard Grainger, 46, of Hesketh Drive, Lostock Gralam, was arrested.

He was subsequently charged with possession of a class A drug (co***ne and diamorphine), and possession of criminal property.

He appeared at Chester Magistrates’ Court on Friday 5 April where he pleaded guilty to the offences.

He has been remanded in custody to be sentenced at Chester Crown Court on Friday 3 May.

Detective Sergeant John Lyons said:

“Thanks to the evidence against Grainger he has pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.

“The dangers of drugs are well known and I hope the charges secured against him will provide some reassurance to the community that we take offences of this nature seriously.”

CRIME PREVENTION ADVICE

With the finer weather just around the corner, some people will be looking to start a bit of gardening and tidying up their sheds.
To prevent criminals from targeting your shed, have a look at the following guidance:

Is your garden secure?
Ensure all gates and entry points are secure to make it more difficult for offenders to gain access to the shed.

Have you considered the positioning of your shed?
If possible, position your shed so it can’t be seen from the street but within sight of your house.

Are tools all stored away securely?
Thieves use tools and gardening equipment that are left out to gain entry to your shed. Store tools in a secure location such as a lockable container.

Have you completed maintenance checks?
Check areas such as the roof, windows, doors and structure to ensure they are in good condition as they are often exploited by thieves.

Are your hinges and locks substantial enough?
Door hinges are often removed to gain entry. Use tamper proof screws and a substantial padlock to secure the shed door.

Is your shed anchored to the ground?
Thieves can lift the shed and gain entry to your valuables, anchoring it to the ground will prevent this.

Are your windows covered and valuables out of sight?
Thieves will often look through windows to target higher value items. Ensure valuables are covered or out of sight.

Are valuables secured in the shed?
Using ring bolts anchored to the ground and/or walls enables you to secure items such as bikes, lawnmowers and other tools effectively.

Have you considered enhanced security measures?
External lighting may deter offenders, a shed alarm can alert you if it has been entered and CCTV can capture evidence to help with an investigation.

Is your property marked and registered?
Use a Police approved property marking system, UV pen or etch your postcode onto items to make them less attractive to thieves and register with https://orlo.uk/gu9Nl

Don't let thieves get an easy ride. Follow these simple rules to help protect your vehicle from thieves -
1. Lock your vehicle
Locking your vehicle, even when filling up or parked on your drive, greatly reduces the possibility of it being targeted by an opportunist thief. Even if you have locked your vehicle, check you haven’t left any windows or the sunroof open.
2. Keep the keys safe
Vehicles today are by and large more difficult to steal than ever, unless the thief can access your key or fob to clone them. Keep your keys safe, out of view when at home, and away from your front door. It’s not uncommon for car keys to be stolen from inside your home by thieves fishing for them with a stick and hook through the letterbox.
Keyless entry
Cars with keyless entry unlock automatically when the key comes within a short distance of the car.
Thieves only need to be within a few metres of your car key to capture the signal, even if it’s inside your home. This means that even if your car and home are secure, thieves can still unlock, start and steal your car.
How to protect your keyless entry car
• When at home keep your car key (and the spare) well away from the car.
• Put the keys in a screened or signal-blocking pouch, such as a Faraday Bag.
• Reprogramme your keys if you buy a second hand car.
• Turn off wireless signals on your fob when it's not being used
3. Park responsibly
It’s always advisable to avoid parking in dark and secluded areas. It’s worth an extra five or ten-minute walk if it means your vehicle is left in a well-lit and busier street.
And if possible, always try to park in illuminated and staffed car parks or those with a Park Mark safer parking award.

Please read our advice about how you can keep your valuables safe and your home secure.
Don’t leave jewellery or cash on display in your home or even hidden
Instead use a bank safety deposit box to store high value items, or at least buy a good quality safe and fix it to a brick walls
Photograph each item, keep a written description and make sure it is included on your insurance policy
Use special property marking technology from https://orlo.uk/DZEDW
Be discreet if wearing jewellery or carrying large amounts of cash in public
Make sure your social media account security settings are ‘high’ or ‘private’
Keep your windows and doors locked and use a burglar alarm and security lighting
Be vigilant of unexpected callers or cold-callers offering doorstep services. Write down who they said they were, details of any vehicle they were in, and save and back-up any CCTV of them
Join your local neighbourhood watch scheme
Report any suspicious activity, such as being watched or followed, to the police through our website, on social media or by calling 101

-- MESSAGE FROM DAVENHAM AND MOULTON POLICE --

KINGSMEAD MINI POLICE will be holding a BIKE MARKING EVENT on SATURDAY 30th MARCH from 13:00 to 14:30 @ Kingsmead Primary School.

With the clocks going forward soon and summer fast approaching , more and more people will be out in the nice weather on their bicycles. And the MINI POLICE want to help you by keeping your bicycles safe.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF BIKE MARKING ?

SECURITY MARKING : At these events, your bike is marked with a unique identifier, such as a code or serial number. This marking is typically placed on the frame or other prominent parts of the bicycle.

REGISTARTION: The marked bike details are then registered onto BikeRegister’s online database. This database helps police and retailers identify and verify the legitimate owner of bikes that have been stolen or are being resold.

THEFT PREVENTION: By participating in a bike marking event, you significantly reduce the likelihood of cycle theft. If your bike is stolen, having it registered makes it easier for authorities to track and recover it.

So if you have a bicycle and want it marked for free, then come down to Kingsmead Primary. This event is open to all residents within the NORTHWICH AREA

FRAUD WARNING
There has been an increase in reports of residents are being contacted via their landline by a person purporting to a Police Officer.
They are informed that their bank account has been involved in a scam and the police are conducting an undercover investigation and not to tell anyone.
They are instructed to attend the bank withdraw cash and not to tell the bank why, they are to return home with the cash, and a courier to collect it.
Fraudsters are extremely convincing and can be very threatening especially towards the vulnerable.
Police officers will never ask you to transfer money, withdraw cash or provide personal details over the phone.
It is concerning that we are seeing a few reports of this nature and thankfully banks have stepped in to protect customers from falling foul to these scammers.
Anyone who is receiving calls asking for money to be transferred or cash withdrawn by scammers should call 101 or report it to Action Fraud 0300 123 2040 or online via the Cheshire Police Website or
