Digital Twin is a technology that creates a digital replica of physical assets, processes, or systems. Digital Twin will be used in industries like manufacturing, healthcare, and logistics, and will enable companies to simulate and optimize their operations in a virtual environment. Digital Twin will also enable companies to reduce downtime, increase productivity, and improve efficiency. The use of digital twins is driven by advances in sensors, data analytics, and artificial intelligence. If shark attacks give you the heebie-jeebies, you aren’t alone. In 1987, it was reported by The New York Times that sharks “have shown an inexplicable taste for the new fiber-optic cables that are being strung along the ocean floor linking the United States, Europe, and Japan.” Wow, the Internet is attacked from all above and below!

What is Squirrel Syndrome?
Think of the 2009 American animated comedy-drama adventure film “UP” produced by Pixar Animation Studios. Remember Doug the dog who would totally lose focus when you called squirrel? Well, it turns out Doug’s quirky disorder was based on many of us. According to experts, Squirrel Syndrom is a spontaneous reaction to “shiny objects.” It’s anything that pulls our focus from the task at hand. It’s a difficult issue when you’re trying to choose one path to start or when projects get delayed over and over again because more shiny things pop up.
Our Managed Account Services can help you avoid Squirrel Syndrome. We managed many of the shiny objects by managing your IT services for you and maintaining your flow of business. This allows busy companies to put the maintenance of their IT infrastructure on auto-pilot. We monitor, update and repair your networks, servers, software, computers, and printers. back to the business of serving your customers.

What is Zero Trust Security? Is it something you need? Zero Trust is a cybersecurity model that requires all users and devices to be authenticated and authorized before accessing a network. The main concept behind the zero trust security model is “never trust, always verify.” This means that users and devices should not be trusted by
default, even if they are connected to a permissioned network such as a corporate LAN and even if they were previously verified.
Zero Trust Security will be used in industries like finance, healthcare, and logistics, and will enable companies to create secure and transparent networks. Zero Trust Security will also enable companies to prevent potential threats, such as data breaches and cyber attacks.

Today is National Get to Know Your Customer Day!
We make your high-tech tools work seamlessly so you can focus on delighting your customers. But how do you know how to delight your customer if you don’t have the right data? You could go with your gut, which is what a lot of businesses do, but you’ve got a wealth of information stored in your systems that can help you truly understand your end user’s experience, wants and needs even better and help you optimize your business results.
1) Your Network Traffic is a Gold Mine – Your network contains a wealth of Data. Gathering this information is critical in understanding your customers’ experience.
2) Don’t Assume You Know What Your Customer Wants – Know your customers for what they DO, instead of just what you think they do or even say they do. Look at your data to provide insight.
3) Quality Data Rather Over Quantity – You have a wealth of data but focus on the data that matters most.
4) Customers Needs and Wants are Fluid – Customer needs and priorities are always changing. Your technology must be able to adapt.
5) Look at Real Time – Look for insights into your customers’ experience and behavior in real time. This helps you take appropriate action as needed to ensure optimal user experience.
6) Aggregated data can hide critical insights – It is the granular information about your customers’ behavior and experience that will render the most valuable insights to improve your customers’ experience and business results.
7) Look at the Full Picture – Capture the data whether your customers interact with your website/web application from a smart phone/tablet/computer. Compare to your in-store or other data stores to make sure you are able to “connect the dots.”
Make sure the right data is available for effective analytics, companies can find new ways to truly understand their end users’ experience and optimize business results.

Information technology (IT) is the management of computers and information systems. That includes your hardware (the physical components of your computers and can also include scanners, printers, phones) and the software components (the programs and apps you use on your computers and other devices to make them do the work).
As IT professionals, we coordinate and assemble of existing computer systems to solve problems or to help you achieve a goal. IT professionals are also responsible for troubleshooting any issues with computer systems and making sure they are well managed and function as expected.
So when should you call in an IT professional? If you’re tech savvy and have the time, resources and want to do your own IT work, that’s great. But many small to medium businesses don’t have the time, knowledge or desire to do their own. In those cases, here’s our advice:
• when considering new hardware or software to purchase
• if you’re experiencing slow downs or other computer glitches
• if you don’t have a reliable backup system for your data
• if you’ve got sensitive data that you need to protect
• when your computers aren’t communicating with your other devices
• every year or two to complete an IT audit to be sure you’re devices are up-to-date and working well with each other.

What are these? The “compact” little beauty on the left is the first commercially released video tape recorder (VTR). It was designed to record and playback video and audio material from magnetic tape. The early VTRs were open-reel devices that record on individual reels of 2-inch-wide (5.08 cm) tape. They were used in television studios, serving as a replacement for motion picture film stock and making recording for television applications cheaper and quicker.
The second image on the right is the first “portable” VTR, the suitcase-sized 1967 AMPEX quadruplex VR-3000.
Wow, thank goodness technology has come a long way since then!

Here’s your brain stretch for the day.
Do you recognize what these tech objects are?
Take a guess below. We’ll reveal the answer tomorrow.
Oh, and if you are still depending on one of these, maybe it’s time to upgrade your technology. Give us a call. We can help – 317-857-0150.
1. Consider what you’ve spent in the past and what company/project needs?
2. What are your company goals? How can technology help you expand your business and allow you to outperform your competition?
3. What has been working well with your current network and software? What areas of improvement can you identify? Be sure to talk to the end-users and team leaders.
4. Identify ongoing costs, such as: staff, infrastructure, updating hardware and software, subscriptions, etc.
5. Special Needs. What upcoming projects, services or products are you implementing? Consider setup costs, licenses, training, additional hardware, and increased need for IT support
6. Consider Network and data security. Do you need to upgrade to prevent human error or hacking?
7. Evaluate. Prioritize your goals. Don’t underfund areas that are a priority in order to “save money”. Typically, delaying or reducing costs ends up costing you more money in the end due to inefficiencies, frustrations and missed opportunities.
8. Outsourcing vs. Inhouse IT services. Can outsourced services provide equal or better resources? Don’t assume that outsourcing is more expensive or that they can’t provide quick solutions. Interview a couple of IT companies and compare.
This can seem like a daunting process. If you’d like a free assessment, call us. 317-857-0150

Be honest, do you always read through the entire terms and conditions on a website before clicking the little box? A study by Deloitte found that 91% of consumers accept the terms and conditions without reading them (Cakebread, 2017). ProPrivacy.com, a digital privacy group claims that number is higher with only 1% of subjects in a social experiment actually reading the terms of conditions (Sandle, 2020) Do you fall into that group?

Last year Forbes wrote an article called: Why is Your Company Software Failing? Bad Budgeting May be the Culprit. (https://www.forbes.com/sites/rhettpower/2022/07/24/why-is-your-company-software-failing-bad-budgeting-might-be-the-culprit/?sh=7e7d02685f24) Although the article specifically is referring to developing proprietary software, the 3 tips could also apply to any system. These are some good, yet often overlooked, tips. Give it a read.
1) Set expectations on what your software will accomplish.
2) Consider the end-user experience.
3) Create a realistic timeline.
When we work with clients, we review these same issues to make sure you’re not wasting money and that the software, hardware or other IT services focus on helping you best serve your customers.

On Saturday, Oct. 14 there will be an Annular Solar Eclipse. The Moon will pass between the Sun and Earth while it is at its farthest point from Earth. Because the Moon is farther away from Earth, it appears smaller than the Sun will not completely cover the sun.
Can the eclipse disrupt cell, internet or GPS? The answer is that you probably won’t notice any disruption of service. Thanks to engineers and IT professionals, cell services have extra towers to accommodate in the influx of people in areas that could be affected so there’s little no strain on the cell towers unaffected. (Yep, you can thank IT professionals for keeping things running smoothly). Wi-Fi and Internet shouldn’t be affected much either.
However, your GPS and AM radio signals could be briefly affected. Those signals bounce off of the ionosphere, a natural scientific reaction, and it could. And it could cause GPS and AM radio cut out. If you’re driving an unexpected route that day, you may want to print out your directions ahead of time, just in case. But you know, if you experience an outage, maybe just get out of your home or car and experience this fascinating occurrence...But take precautions and NEVER LOOK AT SUN DIRECTLY!
Here’s some interesting info on this solar eclipse:

Mark Zuckerberg and his Harvard colleagues created a digital book of new students with their faces on it. A simple idea that changed the world. (Technicallly that’s computer science not IT, but it’s still a pretty interesting fact!).
Whether you love or hate them, online sessions enable us to communicate with a large number of people in a very efficient way. Be sure to thank an IT professional for keeping the system running.
Why did the Wi-Fi and the computer get married?
Because they had a connection.
Have a fabulous and fun Friday!
The Techno Advantage goal is to be your secret advantage in business. When we hear client’s say they can trust us with their #1 client, that’s our confirmation we’re doing our job.
Call us today (317-857-0150), we’ll back you up with your #1 and every other client!
Your computers (hardware and software), phone systems, printers, data, backup, Internet and everything IT is critical to conducting business. If there is a glitch, it can cost thousands of dollars in lost business depending on how long it takes to identify and fix the culprit and get things back up and running. And that doesn’t even consider the frustration and stress it can cause the owner, workers and customers.
Many small businesses often overlook a simple service because they think it’s only for larger businesses. A Managed Service Plan (MSP) allows companies of any size to put the maintenance of their IT infrastructure on auto-pilot so they can focus on the other aspects of growing their businesses. It is our job to monitor your systems, update as necessary, fix any glitchy things that are slowing you down, and protect your data and backup. Focus on the business of serving your customers.
We have a wide array of optional features. Call us today and talk to us about how to tailor a package to meet your budget and unique requirements.
Many small businesses don’t have in-house IT staff and that’s okay, but the person designated to be in charge of your computer technology needs to have some tech experience. Here are two items that are critical for your designated tech person to know.
1) How to set up, administer and secure your Network and WiFi. Make sure there is proper backup and security measures.
2) Be able to research, understand and implement new technologies. New programs are being created every year which may be able to help you improve ordering processes, communications and customer service and more. Not all of them are perfect for your business, however. You need to understand the pros and cons as it applies to your business. Allow your tech person to dedicate 1 to 2 hours a week to research security and technology. The right mix of can help you see a significant increase in revenues. It will be well worth the investment.
BONUS: It’s advisable to also have a professional IT company that you can call on should you need assistance. We actually serve as “in-house” IT specialists for companies of all sizes.
