Hello beautiful people! (Texto em Português abaixo)
First of all I want to say 2 things:
1) thank you
Thank you for all the love I received these past few days although I understand many of you are sad with the recently news.
2) I’m not moving!
This past Monday we announced the closure of after an almost 5 year run. Thank you for the love throughout the years and now during this transition!
My son brought to my attention that the original post tried to communicate that I had plans of moving or that I had left Pittsburgh. That was not the intention. Sometimes bilingual brains don’t translate things very well 😬 plus all the anxiety to share such big news were the reason behind the confusion.
On this note, I’d like to say that I’m not leaving Pittsburgh. Just ending the activities at Casa after a challenging and beautiful journey, but it’s time for me to rest a little.
My cooking journey started about 4 years before Casa and this mamma is tired after almost 10 years nonstop. I’m very thankful for the experience and for having the opportunity to show Pittsburgh a different look into Brazilian food and share a little bit of my culture since I started my journey selling lunches to my co-workers back in the downtown corporate world. Later my work evolved to private dinners, catering and pop-up events and eventually Casa Brasil.
Thankful for for joining me in this ride, all of our staff that supported us throughout the years, our investors, community partners and family and friends and for the chance to cook for yinz. I don’t have a clue of how many gallons of Moqueca, feijoada or chicken stroganoff was made in this period, but I know for sure that I’ve given my best and put lots of love on each dish we prepared. So, for now I take a break, but not retiring from cooking. A couple of years ago I opened which is another way to represent here and that’s where my focus will be. Once again thank you and see you around!
Much love🤎

Gente bonita, bora lá esclarecer algumas coisinhas.
Quero dizer duas coisinhas:

Today, I took a quick trip to Clarion to visit and say hello to some old friends. A day off after a busy weekend and a beautiful fall day asked for a little road trip.
Cheers to the special people that cross our paths and open little or sometimes big doors. This is George Shirey, owner of Shirey True Value Hardware in Clarion for over 50years and my first boss in the US between 2007 and 2012.
A fun fact about the week he offered me a job I had just received my work permit and was eager to start working after a whole year waiting for immigration processing and it meant the world to me.
The beginning of a new life chapter in foreign lands is not an easy task, ask any new immigrant. Language barriers, professional and cultural adjustments, you name it. So, this was special to look back at this chapter of my journey since I arrived in this country 16 years ago! 🤍
…..
O tempo voa! 🤍
Guava Cheesecake 😍…. And it’s vegan and gluten free
Today We had the pleasure to cater an event for
Jay and I met a few years ago networking in an event for women in the food business here in Pittsburgh.
Since then both of us have grown into our crafts and do our share to bring our global flavors and spices to the city.
If you like Indian food, make sure you try one of her meal kits (I’m about to order my own soon!) and get on cooking!
Thanks for having us Jay!

40 years ago on July 31, 1982 Dona Beatriz aka Dona Bia aka my mom decided to invest all her savings that she had earned as a maid and to go after her dream of starting her own business.
And that’s how “Sorvetão/ Big Ice Cream” was born. What started as an ice cream shop developed to a candy shop and a welcoming space to the local community of Juquitiba in the state of São Paulo in Brasil. Congratulations mom for all your grit, determination and inspiration . Cheers to 40 more years! 🎉

I don’t think this little black girl on the left had a clue of the life that was ahead of her.
But I’m certain that she was in a mission to keep her young spirit no matter how old she gets. Today, she turned 39 years old, fighting against the odds and statistics. An age that many other kids of her color never reached or will never reach just for being black.
As I celebrate my Earth Day, I cannot forget the
19 young souls that had their lives, hopes, and dreams taken away from them this week. How many more lives are needed for people to understand that there is something wrong with this picture? This is not right.
Thank you for all the birthday messages, videos, songs, love. I’m very lucky to be surrounded by love ❤️

For Chef Keyla Nogueira (), chef and co-owner of Casa Brasil], cooking is a means of cultural preservation. Keyla grew up on a ranch in Juquitiba, a small town outside of São Paulo. Her family would harvest corn, beans, and yuca, an edible root that is a staple in South American cuisine.

What an honor to receive professor Silvio de Almeida at Casa Brasil tonight.
After 20 years Silvio Almeida] and I got to remember the old days when we were English students. Back in 2002 Silvio and I were scholarship recipients of inclusion program led by an extinct afro-Brazilian organization called Afrobras back in São Paulo. And today we got reunited at Casa Brasil after a few lectures he did at University of Pittsburgh and to spread the word about Luiz Gama’s legacy.
Thanks for the visit Silvio and come back soon!

Chef Keyla was joined by comedian Brittany Alexis for her segment and made a recipe that is super tasty and was also one of her father’s signature dishes: Costela na Cerveja aka Beer Braised Short Rib recipe .
She put her spin on it and instead of using regular beer, she used golden ale and made it into a recipe. 😍🍻🥩🍗🇧🇷
This was an exclusive recipe and will be live in the fest platform along with all the other chef collaborations.
