💫By you shining you lift us all up and encourage us to do the same. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We are all honestly feeling the same feels. Nobody has it all together. 💖We are all perfectly imperfect humans. And if you do not feel like shining today or your light feels a little dim. Be gentle on yourself. Take the pressure OFF. We can’t shine bright all the time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Lichen scle-what?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤓Lichen sclerosus (pronounced like-en skler-oh-sus) is a skin condition that makes skin white, thickened and crinkly. Most often it affects the skin between the v***a or anus.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, thickened skin, what’s the big deal?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Well, actually, 😔lichen sclerosus can be itchy, painful and cause permanent scarring. And, unfortunately, around 4% of women with this condition go on to develop v***ar cancer.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lichen sclerosus can often be mistaken for thrush.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤷🏼‍♀️We don’t really know what causes lichen sclerosis but some researchers think it may be linked to an autoimmune disorder. Basically, the theory is that your immune system gets confused and attacks your skin instead of protecting it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The good news is, 🤍lichen sclerosus can be treated and symptoms managed.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The biggest takeaway? 🧑🏽‍⚕️Make sure you see your doctor if you’re often itchy down there. Even if you think suspect its recurring thrush.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
AND if you need a little help to relieve the itching go 🌟🌟🌟check out the perineal soothers in our store they’re brilliant and super soft and great for a bit of relief.⠀

Wooo! 🥳It’s my birthday!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Birthdays are always a time of reflection for me so I thought I’d share these beautiful words with you from Rebecca Ray 💖 from her book The Universe Listens to brave:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“When gazing in the direction of your past, don't forget to marvel all the times you've walked with courage, strength, determination, and heart. 😌How else do you think you made it this far?”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My biggest birthday wish (apart from 🥕 carrot cake with cream cheese icing ) is that 💖you remember you have got through every single thing in your life so far. So no matter what you’re going through now - you got this.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Straighten that crown 👑 , Queen! Be your flawsome self and shine bright. .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And look, my birthday isn’t exactly how I imagined it, being in iso and all, but here we are 😂just trying to get Mack and I to have party hats on at the same time. 🌟🌟🌟And to help me make it just a little more festive and cheerful I wanted to give you all the gift 🎁 of free shipping.

At The Pelvic Hub we are so serious about pelvic health it’s silly.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’ve been following us for a while maybe you’ve already noticed? 🙃We’re a bit obsessed.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And the reason? 🤓Well, we’re anatomy nerds. How the body works and moves and functions and is so beautifully designed? 😜Don’t get us started talking or we won’t stop!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But more importantly, it’s because of🌟YOU.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💖We believe each and every one of you deserves the very best care so you can live your very best life.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But we know that so many people - women in particular - just don’t have the information and tools to advocate for their health. Or even prioritise their health.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We know that pelvic and s*xual health is especially tricky because it comes with it’s own baggage of shame and silence.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💪🏼We want to change ALL of that.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌟We want you to feel empowered and good about yourself.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌟We want you to be serious with just the right amount of silly.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌟We want to help you optimise your pelvic health, so you too can do a headstand in white lycra (just kidding about the headstand part, unless that’s your bag, 😉you do you!)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’re here for it, 💖we’re here for you. Jump over to https://bit.ly/2Sc0Vzt and sign up for our email newsletter so we can send you more love. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

You guys, these past few weeks have been tough, right?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I had my 🙈good old friend acceptance come knocking again.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
ICYMI I got married recently. My wedding day was incredible & beautiful & all.the.things and my pain flared.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I had an ah-mazing week with my family afterwards. My parents live back in NZ, my bro in Canada & we are in AUS so we hadn’t been together for 3 years. It was very special! And I also felt angry & frustrated I 🙄still was not able to do what I wanted to do & 🙄still had to modify what I did & I was 🙄still in pain. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Then, almost immediately (so lucky with our wedding timing) isolation hit.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Can I tell you, seeing all these goal oriented fit little bunnies doing home workouts & fun challenges just brought those feelings of anger & frustration back to the fore.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Fitness used to be my THING.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I so wanted my fit, athletic, pain free body back. And the comparisons between my present self and my past self gave my inner critic an absolute field day.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
❤️But I know that acceptance isn’t an end point. It’s not a place we get to & stop.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Acceptance is something that requires ongoing work as your life & circumstances & *self* evolve.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
😌You do the work. 💪🏼You improve. You think “I’ve got this nailed”. Then something changes & you 🌀spiral to doing the work again.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I could see just how badly I was beating myself up & decided to switch on some ❤️loving compassion, gratitude & self care.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I sat down & made sure that I was doing what I needed to do (however, big or small) each day to keep putting one foot in front of the other. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I went off social media for a week & let myself feel the feels (which involved going outside & 😡stamping my feet so hard our dog was super confused. And 😢crying, yup crying).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And I got back into the present moment with single focused tasks. If I was watching TV, I was watching that TV. If I was working, I was working. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m almost there. But I’m still working on it everyday.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And I’m wondering, ❤️how are you all coping? Has iso been triggering?

17/04/2020

You guys, more than HALF!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ok, ok, maybe s*x isn’t a huge priority for you right after you’ve had a baby. And that’s fair enough. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But what isn’t cool is putting up with symptoms or issues because you think they’re just a normal part of life now that you’ve given birth 🤷⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Not👏true👏⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Just because symptoms are common doesn’t make them normal!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌟Getting your 6-week check up is super important but it shouldn’t stop there. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And, by the way, if you didn’t have your 6-week check up & you’re coming up on more like 6-months please know that it’s never too late. 🙄It’s not a test, you’re not going to get in trouble, your pelvic health physio/GP is there to help & support you. And if they make you feel any other way it’s time to find a new doctor!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ok, now we’ve got that covered, here’s the low down on symptoms you definitely don’t want to ignore:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▫️Pelvic organ prolapse (POP)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▫️Pain during s*x or any other issues during s*x after the first 6 weeks⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▫️Any kind of pain at any time in your pelvis, p***c area, groin, base of your spine, abs… anywhere after the first 6 weeks OR in the first 6 weeks if it’s more than a panadol and neurofen can sort out⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▫️Ab separation⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▫️Haemorrhoids⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▫️Leaking wee, feeling the need to go all the time or feeling like you can’t fully empty your bladder⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▫️Loss of bowel control like increased urgency or streaking your undies⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▫️Bulging or pressure between your legs⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We know what you’re thinking “doesn’t some of this stuff just sort itself out overtime?” And the answer is yes, sometimes they do. BUT sometimes they lead to bigger problems down the track.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💛You don’t need to suffer in silence. You deserve help. You deserve to feel good. You deserve to be treated with the same tenderness and care that you would treat that sweet baby of yours.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💪🏽Take care of you, Mama! Go get those symptoms checked.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And if you have questions, hit us up in DMs. 💖We’re here for you.

*insert giggling here*⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ok, ok, we know it looks funny but this *isn’t* an April Fools Day joke or a bad Austin Powers accent (🤭Fagina, Alotta Fagina).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Did you know that ‘fagina’ is actually the Welsh word for ‘va**na’?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In Polish 🇵🇱 , ‘va**na’ is ‘pochwa’. In Irish 🇮🇪 it’s ‘fhaighin’ and in Finnish 🇫🇮 is ‘emätin’?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Neat, huh?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now our goal isn’t to get you learning all the words for va**na, ⭐️our goal is actually to reduce the shame around our bodies. ⭐️And empower people to know their bodies. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🧐So, do you know what the va**na *actually* is? 🤨What about the v***a? 🤔And do you know what your own body looks like?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
No jokes here, 🖱get a mirror and check yourself out peeps!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We don’t expect you to report back, but if you do have any questions we’re here.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Hey guys, 🙋🏼‍♀️Em here. Did you know I’ve personally tried and tested all the products in The Pelvic Hub shop?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Fascia! 🤷🏽‍♀️What is fascia? It’s the connective tissue, made of mostly collagen, that sits beneath the skin that attaches, separates and stabilises muscles and other internal organs.

And it turns out it has an 🤩amazing role to play, not just in holding stuff together and apart.

A recent article in the British Journal of Sports Medicine says 🤓the fascial system ”enables all body systems to operate in an integrated manner” (Zügel et al., 2018).

ENABLES ALL BODY SYSTEMS TO OPERATE IN AN INTEGRATED MANNER.

😝Sorry to yell, but that’s important.

Research is starting to show that fascia is important for molecular biology, pain, functional anatomy, exercise, sport science, repair mechanisms and therapy.

If you have:
🌀Chronic pain
🌀Past surgeries
🌀GI issues
🌀History of accidents/trauma
🌀Scars

Or if you’re simply human - 💓paying attention to your fascia and getting treatment will likely help.

⭐️You can find a fabulous fascial practitioner here:

And if you have any questions, let us know.

It’s super common to be tired if you have endometriosis.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
😳And it’s not necessarily linked to the severity of your endo. Inflammation, poor disease management, stress and so.many.other.factors all play a part in fatigue levels when you have endometriosis.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And ya, we know, it’s not just feeling tired. 🙍🏼‍♀️Sometimes you feel shattered to the core. 🧠Brain not functioning. 🧟‍♀️Full zombie mode.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Buuuut, you gotta get on with life (at least some of the time), 🤷🏻‍♀️so what do you do?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⭐️Good management and balance is key. Think about having a 💰weekly budget of energy. That’s all you have for the week. If you blow it all at the start by going to a party, you’re going to need to take the rest of the week to recover. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now, you might decide that going to the party is worth spending all your energy budget on! 🙃You do you, boo. But at least knowing your energy budget will be spent means you can plan around needing time to rest afterwards.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💤Prioritise good, regular sleep. Yup, we know it’s hard. But having a sleep routine and making good sleep a priority in your life will make a huge difference to your day-to-day energy levels.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💛Exercise even if you’re tired. We know it’s counterintuitive but it can really (really!) help improve fatigue, mood and pain levels. 👣Start small and take it slow if you need but move that body!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🥰Be kind and gentle on yourself. Even when you’re doing all the things “right” you still might have days where you feel shattered for no good reason. Take them as they come.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Do what is right for you. You have the right to protect yourself and your energy levels by turning down social engagements. 👊🏻’No’ is a complete sentence.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⭐️Anything we’ve missed? 💓Would love to hear your tips on beating fatigue.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Why use a lubricant checklist?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Well, because popular lubricants can come with some 🤨pretty questionable ingredients. And finding the right l**e for your body and your needs isn’t as easy as just grabbing the first thing you see on the shelves.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Is it pH balanced? Is it good for water play? Is it safe to use with toys or condoms?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We’ve done the hard yards for you. 🤓We researched ingredients, tried and tested products and made it easy-peasy for you to choose a great l**e that will be kind to your body. To be fair, some aspects of the research were pretty fun 😜⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⭐️AND we also stock a variety of different l**es in our store that all make the cut. No nasties in these guys. 👌🏼Just good quality slippery as all heck l**e including:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💧Super long lasting Ready Silicone Bodyglide capsules⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💧Silky Sliquid water-based personal lubricants⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

💧Organic and lovely YES lubricants⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Ahhhh fear. It’s a totally normal and useful emotion that helps keep us safe.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Fear triggers the fight or flight response in our body. Our nervous system kicks into gear as we 👀get ready to respond to the threat in our environment. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our nervous system gets ready to fight or 🏃🏻‍♀️flee whether we are presented with a 🐅hungry sabre tooth tiger or a work deadline. Or even a global pandemic. And a nervous system that is constantly triggered is a hazard to our health.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤓But here’s the thing with fear - the language we use, the way we label & name threats & stressors, and the stories we tell ourselves, have a huge impact over how we process fear.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Reframing our language can change a threat or stressor from something we don’t control into something we DO control. 💚Which all helps to bring the fear (& our nervous system response) into check.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Try this:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“The house is a complete pigsty.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Wait a sec, is it? 🤨Is every.single.thing in the house a disaster? Ok, it could be. But likely it might be that a couple of things aren’t how you want them to be. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉🏻Describe the facts, take out the emotive language & reframe:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“The dishes are sitting in the sink. The laundry basket is full. And the bathroom is dirty.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ok, both stressful situations 😌 but can you see how the second one enables an action plan & the first is hopeless, distressed & emotionally charged?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Let’s try another example:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“I am in so much pain. Everything hurts. I can’t do this.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I know it damn well feels like it. It might feel stupid to acknowledge any tiny part of your body that isn’t in pain. But trust me, it helps. Even if everything BUT your ✋🏼left hand & right eyeball hurts.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Everything but my left hand and right eyeball hurts” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🙃Can you see how it might work?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤓Stick to the facts. Whether it's describing your pain, your health, the state of your house or the current 🦠CoronaVirus recommendations. 💚Factual language can help reduce fear, anxiety & stress. And help us keep a well regulated nervous system.

10 days before our 👰🤵surprise wedding our house flooded while we were away. We came home to furniture and 😳walls *coated* in mould. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We had to find somewhere else to live, with a 🐶dog, in Sydney AND move. And we had to do it fast. All while organising the final details of a surprise wedding and managing logistics of family arriving from overseas.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So this suuuuper cute photo where we both look totally carefree? Well, I was really starting to *hurt* and was offloading my right side.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
😜Chronic pain life doesn’t pause for anything. Amiright?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But with a solid coping strategy, good self awareness, kindness and a few tears we moved the weekend before we were married and we pulled off a 🥳super fun surprise wedding. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And although I was in pain on the day, I had an amazing time marrying this ❤️incredible man who has been by my side for this whole crazy health journey and Pelvic Hub ride.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They say that bad luck in the lead up to a wedding means good luck for the marriage. Did you have any bad luck on your wedding day?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Have you ever noticed a connection between daily self care and your inner critic? 🙋🏼‍♀️I have.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am not talking about a lavish one hour massage or facial. But 👋🏼high.five.to.you if this is in your daily routine. I have noticed that just as I start being critical or judgemental towards myself I stop using my nice cleanser to wash my face. Sounds silly, right?! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Disclaimer- 😜I still wash my face. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This little ritual for me is really an act of 💛self love. It’s my *thing* that I started when I was unable to get out of the 🏡house and was feeling pretty darn crappy about not being able to “do” anything (I was SUCH a do-er). I created this ritual as a way of showing myself some 🥰loving compassion and kindness. So, it is not silly at all that when my inner critic is starting to want to 🎶play her tunes on my soul radio again, this is one of the first things to go. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🎧Our body listens to EVERY message we tell it. And 💛we create our own belief systems and then act in ways to make them come true. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We ALL experience negative thought cycles. It can be such a valuable tool to check in and notice what little things start to disappear or change in our daily routine, when this starts to happen😌.The sooner we can recognise and acknowledge our inner critic is making an appearance, the sooner we can confront our thoughts and turn them around.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have you noticed any connections like this? Give me a 💛in the comments ⬇️ if you have!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Ok, I am off to lovingly cleanse my face.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Each year over 😳 1,510 women in Australia will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer (source )⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Many of these women go on to have a variety of chemotherapy, radiation therapy and other cancer treatments. And while these treatments can be life-saving, they can also be pretty hard on the pelvis.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But many women undergoing these treatments 🤨simply aren’t told about the potential side effects to their pelvic health. They may believe that any symptoms they are experiencing are a normal part of ageing or they just don’t put 🧩two and two together.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤓Did you know cancer treatments can cause symptoms like:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▫️Vaginal dryness, burning or itching⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▫️Shrinking of va**nal walls or sagging of va**nal walls (vulvova**nal atrophy or VVA)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▫️Thinning and inflammation of the va**nal walls⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▫️Pain during s*x (dyspareunia)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▫️Lowered libido⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▫️Urinating more often or having the urge to urinate when you don’t really need to go⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▫️Recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
▫️Incontinence⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌟At The Pelvic Hub we want to encourage all women who’ve had 🦋treatment for cancer to check in with a pelvic health specialist (like a women’s health physio or gynaecologist). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Last week we did a live with 🙌🏻🙌🏻Heather Jeffcoat [DPT], owner of Femina PT and author of 📚S*x Without Pain: A Self-Treatment Guide To The S*x Life You Deserve. 💥She answered some really important questions around pelvic health and cancer. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Feeling a bit “meh”, us too. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We thought you might want to try something with us today. Open up your 💓heart and be present to let life's beautiful little moments in. Little splashes of wonder. The smile on your child's face, the feel of rain on your skin, the look your 🐶dog gives you when you come home. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

💓Soak it all up- this is life after all. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And if you need to cry, 😭cry. If you are 😡angry, do something to move that through your body. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Vulvodynia (pronounced vul-voe-DIN-e-uh, we got you😉) is chronic pain (lasting more than 3 months) or discomfort around the opening of the va**na (v***a) with no clear cause & no significant change to the appearance of the v***a. 🤓It was previously thought to be a rare condition but research is now showing that vulvodynia may affect up to 14% of women worldwide. Unfortunately there is no ‘test’ that can diagnose you with Vulvodynia. It is diagnosed through the process of elimination, so a diagnosis can take a while 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The jury is still out on what causes Vulvodynia… no one can work it out!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤔Some research says that women who suffer from Vulvodynia may have been born with more nerve endings between their urethra and va**na (also known as the vestibule). If these nerves become damaged through chronic thrush, s*xual trauma or childbirth - the area becomes 😣hypersensitive and super uncomfortable.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Vulvodynia symptoms may be constant or occasional & include:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔸Burning⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔸Soreness⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔸Stinging⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔸Rawness⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔸Painful in*******se (dyspareunia)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔸Throbbing⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔸Itching⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Vulvodynia may be provoked through in*******se or tampon use, unprovoked, or both. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Treatments options include:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔹Lubricants & medications applied directly to the v***a area⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔹Pelvic floor physio to address any pelvic floor dysfunction⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔹Avoiding tight-fitting clothing, perfumes, dyes & activities (such as biking), which can irritate symptoms⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔹Oral medications to address nerve pain⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔹Acupuncture & other complementary therapies 🔹Addressing any allergies or food intolerances 🔹Nerve blocks ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔹And sometimes, surgical intervention⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms please get in touch with your GP or gynaecologist and seek the help you deserve.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
