"There's a season for our suffering and regret. We have to have that. But the season ends; the world moves on. And we need to move on with it,"
Forgiving yourself can feel impossible. But here's a proven way to do it. We don't need to beat ourselves down with guilt and shame.
Could this simple shift in attitude be the key to feeling more resilient in these wild times? Say hello to the concept of a ‘growth mindset’.
Calling all young adults!
I am conducting the following survey to collect information about the way young adults (aged 18 to 26) think and feel about success in today's culture.
Participants can remain anonymous and their answers will be used to help this age group improve economic and mental health outcomes.
My goal is to get at least 100 responses from young adults by the end of July so your help is needed to send the link to as many young people as possible.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this survey, and thanks for any help you can provide.

It’s not our job to stop children from crying. The crying is the healing, not the hurting.
When we stop children from crying they have to stuff the hurt inside instead of releasing it.

There’s a reason that and complain so much about being bored. proneness seems to peak from 9 to 14 years of age before declining from age 17 to 22.
In the , boredom shows up as a variation on the "default network", which is the pattern of brain activation that occurs when you're in a resting state.
But the bored brain had one significant difference to the resting brain: an area known as the anterior insular cortex is less active. This is the part of our brain that affects our ability to work out what things we should notice in our environment, suggesting that when we're bored, we're also unengaged.
Researchers all agree that the number one-benefit of children experiencing periods of boredom is that it develops their innate ability to be creative.
Dr. Teresa Belton, visiting fellow at the University of East Anglia, focuses on the connection between boredom and imagination. She says that boredom is crucial for developing “internal stimulus,” which then allows true .
Operating under the notion that children should be constantly active could hamper the development of their imagination.
There is a popular belief that boredom is bad but recent research finds that being bored promotes creative association and pushes one to find deeper meaning and satisfaction. Lack of things to do can spur kids to engage in and try activities they would not, under other circumstances, have experienced, such as learning a craft or to bake cakes or to engage in an interesting DIY project.
Not sure where to start? It can help if you sit down with your child and help them brainstorm a list of all the things they enjoy doing. These can be basic activities such as playing cards, reading a book, or going for a bicycle ride. They could also be more elaborate ideas such as cooking a fancy dinner, putting on a play, or practicing photography. When your child complains of boredom, have them look at the list and find something they would like to do. Just make sure you don’t pick for them.
