Palayain ang Tugegarao 2!

RELEASE TUGUEGARAO 2!
RELEASE ALL ILLEGALLY ARRESTED ACTIVISTS FOR ATTENDING !

Youth Act Now Against Tyranny Baguio-Benguet joins the call to immediately release the 2 youth activists arrested earlier during the protest in Tuguegarrao, along with the increasing number of arbitrary and illegal arrests in various parts of the country holding the nationwide protest today in time for the Presidentโ€™s State of the Nation Address.

We condemned this outright violation of our right to peaceably assemble and right to dissent. The human rights crisis that the country faces today deserves nothing but massive protests raging all over the country.

The State of the Nation, where the Filipino people resist as one, can never be concealed by any form of harassment, intimidation and human rights violation. It is yet another reason to protest.

Resist!

PRESIDENT DUTERTE, VETO THE TERROR BILL!

Join the Social Media Action!
July 2, 7:00pm

To President Duterte:

Hear the voice of the Filipino people who are united in rejecting your Terror Bill!

The country is in plunging into deeper crisis, and your administration has obviously failed in leading various efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Amid all these, you certified as urgent the Terror Bill. Your minions and allies in Congress were obedient enough to swiftly pass the Terror Bill and transmit it to Malacanang for your action.

Many sectors have spoken against the Terror Bill: youth groups, Sangguniang Kabataan officials, university heads, school associations, business groups, church leaders, artists and actors. Several members of the House of Representatives even withdrew or corrected their "yes" votes to the Terror Bill.

Now, the bill is in your hands. If you let it lapse into law by July 9, or be brave enough to sign it before July 9, you will incite more people to stand up against your tyrannical, oppressive and corrupt administration.

In the interest of the Filipino people, we challenge you: veto the Terror Bill!

YOUTH ALERT!

FULLY ARMED police personnel from the Police Regional Office Cordillera (ProCor) conducted 2 consecutive โ€œSulat Kamayโ€ โ€˜counter-insurgencyโ€™ forum in Benguet State University (November 19) and University of the Cordilleras (November 20). Both forum tagged legal youth organizations such as LFS, Anakbayan, etc as Communist-Terrorist-Groups (CTGs) โ€˜front organizationsโ€™

Youth Act Now Against Tyranny Baguio-Benguet strongly condemns yet another attack against the youth. The entry of ARMED men in schools is an outright violation of RA 7610 (Child Protection Act), International humanitarian Laws (IHL), the 1982 Soto-Enrile Accord and the ultimate principle of schools as peace zones. Moreover, this โ€œSulat Kamayโ€ โ€˜information driveโ€™ and the whole of PNP and AFPโ€™s red-tagging forum have been massively protested by students, faculty and the rest of the academe as it does not only malign legal and legitimate youth organizations but put its members and allies in great risk and further human rights violation.

It should be noted that similar cases of red-tagging and terrorist-labelling served as common pretext to the series of mass arrests, office and house raids, filing of trumped-up charges and arbitrary searches and seizures in Manila and Bacolod for the past weeks.

We cannot let these incidents cause further harm and threat against our life and liberty. Schools should remain as safe sanctuary for free and critical discourse. Should there be any harm or danger be inflicted among activists and human rights defenders in the region, we are sure to whom the culprit be pointed at.

09/11/2019

Alternative Classroom Learning Experience

La Union Peace and Justice Advocates (LUPJA) strongly condemn the brutal attack on Judge Mario Anacleto Baรฑez of RTC Tagudin Branch 25.

Judge Baรฑez was ambushed and killed on board his vehicle in Brgy. Mameltac, San Fernando City, La Union on his way home around 5:40 PM on November 5, 2019.

The suspect fled the crime scene after the incident. Judge Baรฑez was later rushed to Bethany Hospital for treatment but was declared dead on arrival.

Judge Baรฑez is the 6th judge killed under the Duterte Administration. In total, at least 42 judges, prosecutors, and lawyers had been killed since July 2016.

Earlier, on the same day, Major General Antonio Parlade, Jr. of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF ELCAC) appealed to the Supreme Court (SC) to investigate judges who have been dismissing cases against communist terrorists.

Incidentally, Judge Baรฑez acquitted last September 4, 2019, Rachel Mariano, a human rights defender and health worker, of trumped-up charges of murder and frustrated murder filed against her by the 81st IBPA.

His decision reads, โ€œThis court is not morally convinced of her guilt. It may have been proven by her evidence that she is an activist working on the field of health as one of manโ€™s basic rights but that does not make her a member of the New Peopleโ€™s Army. Much more, the allegation that she is one of the perpetrators of the treacherous attack is bereft of sufficient basis for the court to acknowledge any participation on her part.โ€

With the current Human Rights situation following the string of illegal arrests, raid and planting of fi****ms and explosives on private homes and offices of human rights workers, activists and peopleโ€™s organization in Negros and National Capital Region, it cannot be denied that de facto Martial Law is in full effect, and is now here in the Province of La Union.

We call all human rights advocates and peace loving individuals to denounce these acts of injustice. Let us be vigilant and condemn all forms of human rights violations not only in our province but also to the rest of the country.

DUTERTERORISTA ALERT!

Last Saturday, October 26, the Philippine Air Force, using its new FA-50 jet aircraft, dropped 5 500-pound bombs against an alleged NPA camp in Las Navas and Matuguinao, Northern Samar.

Since the declaration of an โ€œall-out warโ€ versus the New Peopleโ€™s Army, the Duterte regimeโ€™s intensified counter-insurgency operations have resulted in countless civilian injuries and deaths in its fascist rampage. The bombing of civilians in Northern Samar is merely the latest in a long line of atrocities committed by Duterteโ€™s armed forces against the Filipino people!

Cadid-an, Sorsogon.

Dumalo at magpadalo!

BREAKING: NYC Chair Ronald Cardema applied for substitution to be first nominee of Duterte Youth Party-list.

In this case, he will replace his wife, Ducielle Marie Suarez Cardema.

While serving both as National Youth Commission (NYC) Chair and head of Duterte Youth, Ronald Cardema spoke and campaigned for the bogus party-list. Aside from his wife, a distant relative named Elizabeth Anne Cardema is the fifth nominee of the party-list.

We can recall how the Duterte administration used the resources of government agencies, including NYC, not only to provide campaign machinery for Duterte-endorsed senatoriables and bogus party-lists, but also to systematically vilify and campaign against progressive candidates and genuine party-lists.

This is a historic hijacking of the party-list system by groups created or backed by political dynasties and the ruling clique in power. The Duterte government was able to successfully orchestrate this by controlling the whole election process mainly through COMELEC, PNP and AFP.

The Filipino youth refuses to accept Duterte Youth as its representative in Congress. This party-list, whose mostly adult members are required to pledge allegiance to Rodrigo and Sara Duterte, will obediently say yes to reviving mandatory ROTC, lowering the minimum age of criminal responsibility, continuing the fake war on drugs, approving Charter Change and death penalty, and further extending Martial Law in Mindanao.

In contrast, youth party-list Kabataan, which was served as a critical voice to expose the anti-people programs railroaded by Duterteโ€™s Congress, is still vulnerable to being cheated on especially with the control of the Duterte administration over election results.

More than ever, the youth is vigilant over the election process. We will resist the sealing of fascist dictatorship through a rubberstamp Senate and House of Representatives.
