Nor should this be thought at all incredible, since Canaan and Palestine abounded with foxes; hence several places therein had their names of Shual, which signifies a fox, ( Joshua 15:28 ) ( Joshua 19:3 Joshua 19:42 ) ( 1 Samuel 13:17 ) .

The text is Judges 15:4-5

Judges 15:4-5
[4]And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a firebrand in the midst between two tails.
[5]And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burnt up both the shocks, and also the standing corn, with the vineyards and olives.

The Philistines could not blame Samson or hold him responsible for what he did , because he was on solid ground ....
I don't want to be a fireless fire ....
Whose prayer can not shift anything....
I don't want to be concern just about setting others on fire when I am Cold....
The foxes could not have set the wheat farm on fire if they were not first on fire....
Who on earth can blame a man on fire for setting others on fire?
You can only be questioned for setting others on fire , when you are not on fire yourself ...
Arson is not a crime, when he that set on fire is first on fire himself .... The only crime in the spirit is to set men on fire when you yourself is not on fire ... Before Peter imparted people with fire he was first on fire for God!

And at a point some doctors went and reported him in the Station, but nothing could be done to him ... This is the point where arson is no longer a crime ...
In the days of the apostles the damage done to the system of the government in their days wasn't small, infact you must look at the confession of the people abAbout them , they were called the men that turned the world upside down ....
Everyone that encountered Jesus went back a changed man, for this reason many shops closed down , many boss loss their servant ...
Can you imagine people like Mathew who was a task collector who left the place of work for following Jesus who is to be blamed .... That is when arson is not a crime ,

The aim of God is to make us so that we can make other....

Holy spirit take charge
There was something in we should notice about *MEN*
Especially *MEN IN CHARGE*
There is always unity among *MEN*
Without unity, it would have been hard to hear from God
While going through Nehemiah's story
There was one thing in Nehemiah 4
There were two United groups
There was Nehemiah and his men
And there was Sanballat and his men
Nehemiah and his men were united that was why he could pray God
We can say that there is two types of unity
Unity of the good
And unity of the wicked
*Men in charge are always united*
God presence is seen where there is unity
Unity is needed in the midst of christians
Is it the strive for money? position? Or what?
Why are we not united?
Why? Christians why?
If we make unity our first priority, do you believe we would be better people?
: Do you believe God will work mightily in our midst
Do you know we would have better governance
Do you know we won't hate eachother?
Let's do what is right, brethren in Christ

I will be taking only Nehemiah as a case study while you can also use the remaining text as a reference, trust God to help us.I don't want to know the kind of situation you are into ,God is giving you charge over them.

Nehemiah would have loved that sign! His story shows that whenever you try to accomplish anything significant for the Lord, you will face strong opposition. Satan never bothers with half-hearted people who are content with a ho-hum spiritual existence.

Are we here?

This is true on the personal level. As long as you live with one foot in the world, living according to the world’s values and for the world’s goals, Satan won’t trouble you. You can go to church and even pray and read your Bible, and he won’t mind. But the minute you wake up from your spiritual lethargy, shake off the worldly mindset, and commit yourself to radical obedience to Jesus Christ, you will encounter spiritual opposition!

This also applies to churches and church leaders: Whenever godly leaders attempt to rally God’s people to advance His kingdom, opposition will hit. Satan doesn’t mind when churches gather to sing and to hear soothing sermons about how to use the Bible to achieve personal success. Those churches are no threat to his domain of darkness. But when a pastor preaches the gospel that convicts sinners of their sin in the presence of a holy God and points them to the cross of Jesus Christ, look out! When a pastor calls the flock to obedient, holy living in this wicked world, look out! When a pastor directs the vision of the flock toward the unreached nations who are waiting to hear the gospel, look out! The enemy is committed to opposing that kind of work. We need to be ready for such opposition and know how to respond to it. Nehemiah 4 teaches us that …

If we only had chapter 3, we would get the impression that the work on the wall went without a snag. “So-and-so built this gate, and these people built the wall to this point, and next to them, these people built the wall further, etc.”

It sounds as if there were no problems. But such was not the case. It never is. Chapters 4-6 show us some of the problems that had to be overcome in the process of rebuilding the wall. There is a cycle of advance and setback through chapters 3-6:

This cycle shows that the Christian life is a conflict. There will always be opposition. The enemy will try to get you sidetracked or to give up completely. Even though it was God’s will for the wall to be rebuilt, He did not remove the opposition.

*Our text reveals at least six types of opposition:*

*(1) THE ANGER OF OTHERS AGAINST YOU.*

Sanballat, the governor of Samaria, became furious and very angry (4:1, 7). The Hebrew word means “burning mad.” A secure and independent Jerusalem would threaten his hold on the area and undermine his control of the trade route through the region, thus hurting his economy. So for the time being, he dropped his differences with the Ammonites to the east, the Arabs to the south, and the Philistines to the west. In anger over what Nehemiah was doing they all came together, threatening to stop the work by violence if necessary. This new work of God in Jerusalem threatened their lifestyle, and so they got angry.

Satan often uses the anger of others to try to squelch the newfound joy and zeal of a new believer. Suppose that a teenager who grew up in a culturally religious home, where the gospel was never preached, gets saved. He goes home and joyously tells his parents how he has met Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Are they overjoyed? Hardly! They explode: “What do you mean that you’ve become a Christian? How do you think we raised you? As a heathen? What’s all this nonsense about being born again?”

*(2) MOCKERY AND SARCASM.*

Sanballat and his buddies gather within hearing distance of the wall and ask a bunch of sarcastic questions (4:2): “What are those feeble Jews doing? Are they going to restore it for themselves? Can they offer sacrifices?” He means, “Do they think that they can complete this project and offer sacrifices of thanksgiving?” “Can they finish in a day? Can they revive the stones from the dusty rubble, even the burned ones?” After each rhetorical question, his cronies probably roared with laughter. Then Tobiah threw in his sarcastic barb, “if a fox should jump on [this poor excuse for a wall], he would break [it] down.”

(3) *THREATS AND INTIMIDATION.*

If anger and ridicule don’t work, the enemy gets more aggressive. Nehemiah’s enemies had to be careful, since he was working under Artaxerxes’ permission. They couldn’t just rally their troops and march on Jerusalem, or they would be charged with rebellion against the king. But they could and did use threats of violence (4:8, 11), which they circulated among the Jews living near them (4:12). Small bands of terrorists could sneak in and pick off a few of the people working on the wall, and Sanballat would just tell Artaxerxes that it was a renegade band that he didn’t have control over. So, like the militant Muslims today, the threat of terrorist activity put the Jews under immense psychological pressure.

Satan still uses subtle or overt threats and intimidation to oppose Christians. “If you don’t keep quiet about the boss’s corruption, you’ll get fired.

*(4) DISCOURAGEMENT AND EXHAUSTION.*

Apparently there was a discouraging proverb or work song that circulated among the workers at this point (4:10): “The strength of the burden bearers is failing, yet there is much rubbish; and we ourselves are unable to rebuild the wall.” The people were wearing out and the piles of rubbish didn’t seem to be diminishing. They had lost their earlier heart for the work that had resulted in the wall rapidly being built to the halfway mark (4:6).

*(5) NEGATIVISM* .
*(6) FEAR* .

Fear is the cumulative effect of all of the above factors (4:14). The people had seen the enemy’s anger and had heard their mockery and threats. They were wearing down through exhaustion. Then they repeatedly heard gloom and doom from their fellow Jews who lived near the enemy. Nehemiah saw their fear and exhorted them not to be afraid.

Nehemiah did some of the six we mentioned

*(2) THEY PUT THEIR HEARTS INTO THE WORK.*
*(3) THEY KEPT THEIR EYES ON THE ENEMY IN VIGILANCE.*
*(4) THEY KEPT THEIR MINDS FOCUSED ON THE LORD* .

Be Vigilance (ver. 9). We "set a watch against them day and night." The Christian motto must ever be the memorable words, "Watch and pray."

If you know Christ and try to accomplish anything for Him, you will experience opposition, especially if you are in leadership. Respond as Nehemiah did, with prayer, keeping on with the work, vigilance against the enemy, and keeping your focus on the great and awesome God whom we serve.

When peter kept away his eye from Jesus ,he began to sink,your safety is in your focussing on Jesus.

*Tonight we are considering ''The men in charge''*

*And our anchor text is from Nehemiah 4: 15-23.... Can someone paste it for us*

*From our topic tonight, we have 2 key words..... ''Men'' and ''in charge''*

*let me quickly explain those terms*

*Man/Men - in the Bible context, it mostly means all humans collectively. That is, mankind, humankind, humanity. Genesis 1:27 says ''God created man, male and female....'' Men here is not a gender entity. It means everyone.*

*To be in charge - means to be responsible of leasing or overseeing. It also means to be in the helm of affairs.*

*You will agree with me that men cannot suddenly be in charge. Spirits are in charge because this world is a world ruled by Spirits.*

*So permit me to say that men who are in charge are men who were put in charge by God (The father of all spirits).*

*To support this, let's look at Psalm 115:16. Someone should pls help us with it.*

[16]The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD'S: but the earth hath he given to the children of men.

*This Bible verse made it clear to us that by God's will we have been put in charge of this earth..... Therefore, even if God will do anything on this earth, a man must permit it.*

*That's why God made it clear in Ezekiel 22:30 that ''I sought for one man....... But I found none''*

[30]And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.

*It is on this foundation that I say that men who are in charge are men who are submitted to God to carry out God's agenda on earth.*

*Of course, questions like ''in charge of what?'' should come to our mind*

*Men in charge are men whose business is to capture the mind of God for various facet of life and devote themselves to making sure Gods will is done on earth.*

*Example of men like that is Nehemiah and his crew. The rebuilding of the wall in Nehemiah 4 wasn't Nehemiah's idea. It was a heavenly burden (Nehemiah 2:12), such that when he received it, he wasn't comfortable and was sad because God's mandate should not suffer.*

*Another example is me. That I am teaching here tonight does not mean I'm directly in charge, it is God that is still in charge, just that a man licensed God to take charge...... Men who under God are trying to be in charge.....*

*Unfortunately in our days, God's children are not in charge because they have forgotten the place of permitting God, they are busy grumbling and murmuring rather than permit God via prayers of supplication and intercession.*

*The following are to be noted if any man will be in charge*

*1. Men in charge are men who are connected to heaven.*

*Nehemiah's connection to heaven was the reason he was able to cooperate with God to rebuild the walls.*

*can we have James 5:17-18*

James 5:17-18
[17]Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
[18]And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

*Another example of such is Elijah*

*For the rai to cease for 3½ years and still came again after the prayers of Elijah... It means there has been a track record of his walk with God.*

*The second point to note is that men in charge advance heaven's cause and not self or carnal motive.*

*It is not about the men in charge, it is about the God of the men in charge. All their efforts in that passage is not about them.... It is about the success if God's work.*

*3. Men in charge are men of faith.*

*They are not men who bow at the sight of challenges. They are men who trust in that which they hears from God.*

*Like the Nehemiah company, in the midst of persecution, they were not shakene. If we will be in charge in the earth, we must not be filled with faithlessness.*

*4. Men in charge are responsible warriors.*

*Check the education sector.....it's full of corruption and malpractice has invaded. Even the children of light have joined in this wickedness.*

*What about the fashion world?*

*Politics???*

*Even religion.... Pastors are now suspects....*

*We are losing out day by day because there are no men to take charge*

*Our brothers ravage our sisters because they don't know what it takes to be in charge..... They thought being in charge is to hold high position, to have money, to wear expensive stuffs...... It is far more than that....*

*Men have so relied on their wisdom such that God is no longer in charge. And when God is shut out, His children CAN NOT take CHARGE*

*Can we beg God tonight that He will help us to return to Him so that we can be made to take charge......*

*Can we tell God to raise men of pure intent who will represent God well in His sphere if influence*

*Can we beg Him to purge us of every impurities that has taken our charges from us....*

*We silent every opposition against the chosen who wants to represent God well and we silent everyone who is taking advantage of the children of God in Jesus name.*
