Once a Trojan always a Trojan!!! Three years ago Sage Rosario became an Alabama State Champ and helped lead Daphne to its second Alabama State Championship as a team. The week after the state tournament her family moved to Kansas in support of her father. Sage’s father was stationed in Kansas and then deployed soon after. Sage was such a huge part of our team. I ordered her a state ring after she had moved. I tried to send it to her but it came back. I held on to the ring and was able to finally put it in the hands of this deserving young lady. God is so Good!
As we are mid way through the summer, I worry about those who have chosen the path not to work in the off season. I question why is it no longer important to some who have had so much success or that were so close to accomplishing their goals. IN 28 years of coaching, I have never understood why some don’t pour all they have into the small window they have to compete and be great. Then, there are those who get it! Those who embrace the uncomfortable to be great! Those who make gains instead of excuses. Those who seek to be one of the best and cement their name in Alabama history. As I approach my last few years in coaching. Images like these keep me going. They let me know that what I love and dedicated my life too still has value. I would love to win the first ever sanctioned state women’s title. I want my girls to win individual state titles that now will be recognized by the state. I want to see Daphne boys in the state finals and possible State Champions. I hope we are still hungry. I hope these things still matter. There is still time to put in good work. The time that passes we will never get back. Be wise how we use what time we still have. Its completely up to you.
