Packaging design for the Type Tiff video game 🎮✨
I love Nintendo consoles, but I believe Play Stations and XBox controllers have more buttons and more possible combinations for fighting moves 😁 Even though I know PS4 / XBox games don’t exist, I thought it would be a fun idea to see what a multi-console game cover would look like 😊

Last but not least is Waltograph 😊🏰✨
This font is based off of Walt Disney’s signature and handwriting, so I wanted to create a very round and child-like character. Her hair is reminiscent of Mickey Mouse’s ears, and I have her a cute summer outfit she could spend all day at Disneyland in 😋
I didn’t want her to be violent since Disney is a very family-friendly company, so I decided to give her round gloves which doesn’t do much physical damage, but her magic, positivity, and belief in following her dreams is just too much for the other fighters to handle 😜
I imagine all her moves would leave a trail of pixie dust and magic which catches all the other fonts off guard or in a trap 🤗✨

Jabberwub is in the house! 😆✨
This font is a variation of the Fanta logo, and I loved how blobby and fun it was 😊
When researching this font I immediately thought of a soda-shaking mini game from Mario Party 4, and the background reminded me of Splatoon. He was a bit difficult to nail down, but I love this mischievous jokester so much! I imagine him being able to be squashed into a puddle, throw bits of himself at other fighters, and set up sticky traps on the floor 😜
I didn’t want to give him eyes so that you wouldn’t be able to tell what he was thinking, but he would probably be laughing and talking smack the whole battle 😝

Up next is the butt of every joke, Comic Sans! 😜
Going into this project, I knew I had to include every graphic designer’s worst nightmare, Comic Sans 😂 I thought I was going to make him a hateable character, but he ended up being kinda endearing ☺️
I imagine that he always wants to hang out with the other fonts, but no one wants him around. He’s the punchline of every joke and he either is blissfully unaware, or just chooses to ignore them and keep going 😁
I love all his little annoying eyeball friends, and their lazer eyes would great for long-distance fighting (because why wouldn’t you want lazer eyes?!) 🤩

And in the other corner is . . . Knockout! 💪🏻👊🏻✨
I don’t usually design male characters, but it was so much fun playing with the proportions of this guy 😁
Knockout is a bold, heavy, and straight-edged font, and it gave me the impression that you don’t want to mess with it because it’s not moving or going anywhere. Having recognizable character silhouettes is really important when you have characters lined up, and I love how blocky this guy is 😊
I image that he’d be a short-range, extremely powerful fighter, but he’d also be slow to move - just don’t let him hit you or you’ll be K.O.’d! 😵

Beware of Friday! 😱☠️
This font is from the Friday the 13th movies, so I wanted to make him creepy and mysterious 😈
I honestly had a bit of a hard time with this one ~ I was trying to decide whether to go with a creepy little boy since Jason drowns as a kid in the movies, or a monster inspired by cats (because cats are associated with creepy and dark themes). I went the cat route because it was fun playing with the anatomy, and he also towers over the other characters which gave a fun variety to the fighters. 😊
I tried to still reference the movies by having him in a ripped flannel and pants like one of the many iterations of Jason, which I think makes it look like Friday wasn’t always like this 😏

The one, the only, Times New Roman! 😁👩🏼‍🎓✨
As one of the most commonly used fonts, Times New Roman always makes me think of school, papers, and legal documents. I wanted this character to be sophisticated while also having a few school-themed designs like the shape of her hat and her compass weapon 🎓
I have an affinity for delicate characters with enormous weapons, and I liked the irregular shape of the compass (plus it’d be cool for her to use it for spiraling attacks or elongating it for twice the distance 😋)
My mom recently went back to school and got her degree while I was designing this character, so I was definitely inspired by her and her perseverance ☺️ Love ya mom! 💖

Up next we have Bodoni 😊✨
This font is known for its many iterations on magazine covers like Vogue, Fashion, Elle, and others 😎✨
I wanted her to look like she fully embodied the spirit of high-fashion and you would never want to mess with her 😈
I exaggerated the form of a normal fashion croquis and eliminated her legs so she could use her legs / mist / bottom half (?) to do short-range attacks. I think the balance of her looking strong and confident while also looking delicate and thin turned out really well! 😁

Here comes Courier! 😁
This character is especially special to me because I designed him shortly after my grandpa died. Even though I didn’t really know him, I wanted to include details I remember like a hat and that he smoked (it’s not healthy, but it fit the aesthetic 😅)
Usually people know this typeface as “the typewriter font”, so I decided to make him look like 19th-20th century repairman. I also wanted to give him a fun short-distance weapon, so I thought the carriage return lever would be a fun detail (the bar you would push to start typing in the next line) 😊
This fighter was a lot of fun to design, and I love all the little details I put into him ☺️

Our next fighter is Curlz! 😋💖
Before researching it further, I always thought this was a super girly font ~ little did I know it was supposed to look like bent metal 😱✨
I decided to make a cutesy metal worker with all the essentials for welding: bunny mask, apron dress, fashion gloves, and poofy hair ~ you know, the essentials 😋
I want her to be a long-range fighter where she can create molten metal and throw it at enemies or shape it into weapons with her mind 😊✨
