🎉 We’re muy excited today to announce that Austin Vida was selected to receive funding from Press Forward, the nationwide movement strengthening communities through local news!

Austin Vida is among the newsrooms across the U.S. who were selected for a two-year grant to report on communities that have traditionally gone uncovered. A review panel of national foundation and journalism leaders saw how our reporting is making a difference in our comunidad and awarded us $100,000 in funding to keep going.

What does this mean? You can expect even more stories and programming amplifying our gente y mucho más! Here we go, familia! What would you like to see in Austin Vida?

McCallum High School makes dream quinceañeras possible for students Through community sponsors and donations, several McCallum students, who otherwise wouldn't be able to throw a quinceañera, celebrated in style.

Have your grocery bills been high? You’re not alone–food banks are seeing an uptick in demand. But they’re also struggling with rising food prices and a lull in donations. Austin Vida and Decibel got a chance to see how Dove Spring’s only permanent food bank (Impact Now Dove Springs) is trying to bridge the food cost gap for their neighbors.

Spotlight On: Patricia Vonne, Latinapalooza Founder – Austin Vida 18/05/2024

Despite obstacles faced in her career, artist Patricia Vonne Fan Page has prevailed and achieved success while uplifting the Latino community. ⁠

Vonne launched Latinapalooza, a free showcase during SXSW several years ago to shine a light on Latina musical talent. Now, the showcase expands beyond the fest and comes to Rosewood Park on May 26. ⁠

Cine Las Americas Brings RGV High School Mariachi Doc to the Big Screen 15/05/2024

Cine Las Americas hosts its annual International Film Festival from May 15-19, showcasing Latino and Indigenous films from all across the Americas. This year "Going Varsity in Mariachi" is one of the most anticipated films at the festival.⁠

From documentaries to short films, the fest features a diverse array of selections from countries ranging from Argentina to Mexico.
