Eternally grateful for humble beginnings…

We hear so much about the disadvantages of growing up lower class, and there are many. But growing up in a single parent household, in the projects is where I developed my capacity to love without condition and to see people for who they are, beyond their masks.

Humble beginnings taught me humility, patience, and passion which kept me grounded throughout life, provided me with the tools I needed to navigate life’s disappointments and hardships and helped me overcome the most insurmountable odds.

It fueled my mission to make people, no matter who they are or what they have, feel seen, appreciated, loved, and valued.

It’s the reason why over the past 2 decades I’ve encouraged and guided all of my students, no matter who they are, to operate as their higher selves, as a result of seeing the masks that many of them came with.

And it is also why, it is with this same intention that I walk alongside my clients, guiding them as they heal themselves and journey back to themselves, back home, to who they truly are.🤍

Sure,as a child there were times I felt unlucky, bu growing up in the inner-city is an experience I would relive again if it were conceivably possible, as it taught me lessons that I would not have learned anywhere else.

I have lived a life filled with ups, downs—I call it “My Eventful Life”.🤣

But one thing life has taught me is that when you face life’s difficulties head on from the frequency of love, it all fades to black. None of the things that once bothered you: the people, the things, the experiences that brought pain, NO LONGER MATTER, in this realm of existence.

When you embody love and are inspired by love( your highest frequency) you become the highest version of yourself. And you will disconnect from all things that no longer serve you: relationships, family, friendships, jobs etc . And you won’t look back. You will naturally begin to repel the same types of people and painful events from reoccurring. Instead, you will attract, attract those that will bring more love and joy into your life. Conversations with my students remind me of how perfectly imperfect we are as human beings, no matter our age, or stage of life. We are ever-evolving, ever-growing, and most of all ever-learning beings that evolve with every interaction and each experience.❤️

Student L.C., an older, more mature female student who typically seeks me out for advice to me: "You were right Ms. Dawson. I should have listened to you."

Me: "Right about what?"

L.C : "Ja--- cursed me out today."

Me: "You mean the same kid that you fell for, that you met in ISS (in school suspension) last month? But why?"

L.C.: "Yes. Apparently somebody told him that I said that he liked me, and he yelled at me."

Me: "I'm sorry that happened to you. But, don't even sweat it. Consider yourself fortunate."

L.C. "Fortunate?? I got cursed out. What's fortunate about that?"

Me: "Because he showed you who is, not even a month after you met him. You see, for many girls and women it takes months, sometimes even years after being with someone for them to see who their boyfriends/partners truly are 💔. Now, straighten your crown and keep going. There are plenty of fish left on the see."

L.C. "Miss Dawson, how is it that you always seem to turn a negative into a positive?"

Me: "That's the exact reason why I'm not a Math teacher. Now let's finish that essay you've been working on."🤣

📢 Ladies, if you are in a new relationship or you've been dating newly someone and they show you who you are, believe them the first time. It will become more (and more) difficult to fully see your partner for who they are, as your emotions develop. Human emotions, which are in of themselves complex, complicates things when not balanced. So much so that you can overlook or excuse the red flags that your new beau is showing you plain as day .😱. This perhaps one of the most difficult lessons for many to learn.

2021 has been a year marked with many challenges and loss. As a nation, a world, we have have experienced collective grief. My wish is that the gift of the season fills our hearts with love, peace, and hope.

Hope for anyone who are separated from their loved ones; or those that have lost a loved one this year (due to COVID or otherwise), may the Christmas lights on homes and Christmas trees be a reminder that there is light in the midst of darkness. No matter how lonely you feel, you are not alone.❤

To those who work for the collective good, and serve others, that are being stretched during these uncertain times, working tirelessly to pour into others, may this holiday season rejuvenate you so that you can refill your cup with an abundance of energy and enthusiasm during these trying times.

This is an evolutionary tale. Just ten years ago, I held a poor self- image. I felt awkward, unlovable, and the mere thought of taking photos scared me.😱. As a result, no one saw me for me.

The princess on the left, was very critical of herself. She HATED the idea of having her photo taken. She knew all of her flaws, and rarely did she acknowledge her many strengths...That was until life forced her to master the art of self-love. And today, here I am, head high, chin up, crown on, and finally showing up for myself, as a happier, healthier, stronger version of myself. ❤👑​✨​
