This Artist Paints The Colors She Hears In Music 07/06/2019

It took years to teach Tyler the names of colors, probably because his perceptions were different from ours. When he got the concept, he wanted to know all the color and shade names—robins egg blue, cherry red blue green—and would bring us markers and crayons so we could read off the names. He also had a color attached to each letter of the alphabet, many numbers, and certain animals. In the early years every elephant was blue and every zebra purple. Cool insights in this NPR article...thanks Heather for sending it our way!

"HEALING ART STORIES" Co-Presented by Capital Health and Hopewell Valley Arts Council travels on to its third site at Chauncey Hotel & Conference Center (originated at Capital Health - Hopewell followed by Bristol-Myers Squibb).

The individual journey of making art is a personal one for the artist. When the artist also becomes a patient, a caregiver or a doctor, their artwork can be transformative -- a healing agent for both themselves and for those around them. These artists see their art as a life-affirming act. It brightens and lifts their spirits, inspires them to do more, and motivates them to move ahead with whatever life challenges they face. It has the power to strengthen and renew their sense of purpose and well-being.

Featured artists: Priscilla Snow Algava, Byron Aubrey, Tyler Bell, Janis M. Blayne Paul, NJ Devico, Tasha O’Neill, Aurelle Purdy Sprout, Janet Purcell and Jane Zamost. Show Curator: Janet Purcell.

Feel the hope and inspiration come alive when you visit Chauncey Hotel & Conference Center located at 1 Chauncey Road, Princeton, New Jersey through July 20, 2018.
