Every summer I lived in Virginia we came together in big, beautiful groups twice a week to practice yoga on the green together during the summer months. As yoga studios and gyms slowly start to re-open things are different now, and thatâs okay.
â˘
We have to teach ourselves how to keep moving forward instead of hoping for what ânormalâ use to be.
â˘
Life will break your heart time and time again,
Itâs up to you to live another day.
To fight another battle.
To forgive another mistake.
To learn another lesson.
To create another moment worth remembering.
Itâs up to you to live another day despite pain, time and time again.
Hold your heart in the palm of your hand and remember why your truth matters, why youâre strong, and why youâre brave.
Let me repeat that,
Your truth matters.
You are strong.
You are brave.
â˘
âI know where Iâm going and I know the truth, and I donât have to be what anyone else wants me to be. Iâm free to be what I want.â
â˘
16 has always been my lucky number. Iâve spent weeks looking for a new yoga philosophy/inspiration book that resonated with me and when I bought it the total came out to $16.16. I looked up the angel number and found this quote. Itâs been my screen saver ever since.
â˘
Pay attention to the subtle messages hidden in the cracks of the universe and above all else always trust your own heart and soulâit holds the answers.
Sometimes, I get worn out too.
I see you, and your brave smile.
I see you using every bit of grace and grit you have to get through the hard times.
Sometimes, we donât know where we are going.
Sometimes, we donât always know what could happen, but we always know who we are on the inside.
Hear the whisper of your soul, faint or loud, and listen.
Be kind to it.
Nourish it.
Let it guide you.
Let it heal you.
Itâs okay to slow down. Itâs okay to slow down as much as you need, as long as you promise yourself to never stop.
Slowly, surely, one day a time, my dear.
Keep smiling, keep fighting, keep listening, my dear.
Your time is comingâstronger and brighter than ever before.
xoxo,
Ki

â¨â˘Boundariesâ˘â¨
Sometimes... itâs so easy for us to put ourselves in someone else's shoes that we end up walking right out of our own.
â˘
Stand in your truth with compassion and grace. Stop giving your power away without even realizing it.
â˘
At the end of the day, when you lay your head down beneath the dark sky full of stars youâre reminded of the truths you carry.
â˘
When the sun rises in the morning, set your truths free within the bounds of your soul. Let them live in your light.
From California, to Georgia, to Minnesota, to Virginia, back to Minnesota...I have been around the block the last 5 years. Iâve had the privilege of practicing, teaching, and training yoga all over the country. Iâve met hundreds of beautiful souls and hope to continue practicing with you near or far! Thanks to a dear friend, I was reminded that I have all these online classes recorded and ready for you to practice and enjoy on my website under the membership tab. Itâs been a minute since these were filmed, throwback to some of my earlier years teaching! đ
The membership is free for your first week, give it a try! Extra benefits to monthly subscribers coming soon...can anyone say live Facebook classes? Letâs start practicing together again! đ
Freedom.
Freedom to move and feel and breathe.
Freedom to dream and create and explore.
Freedom to smile through pain.
Freedom to rise to challenges.
Freedom to live another day.
Freedom to feel into the darkness and make space for the light.
Freedom.
đIntention of the weekđ
In case you needed this reminder, too. This is on the wall in my living room. I read it every single morning when I have my coffee. Itâs the background on my phone. It motivates me every day to remember these three intentions that Iâm always working to strengthen:
1. Be myself, no matter who has a problem with it.
2. Nobody can take my light without my permission.
3. Iâm a badass warrior with a great big heart and before the world can thank me for it, I need to thank myself for it. đ
â¨Intention of the weekâ¨
â˘Intuitionâ˘
You will question others.
You will question circumstances.
You will question choices.
You will even question yourself, but you must stop questioning your soul, dear one.
â˘
You only get one life to live. Stop living in the shadows of your âwhat ifâs?â Stop treading through the waters of your fears. Stop crawling through the mud of your pain.
â˘
Stand back up, brush yourself off, and try again.
Youâre stronger now. Youâre braver now. Youâre ready.
â˘
That fire in your belly is telling you to take a closer look. Listen to your soul, my dear, it has the answers youâre longing for.
Xoxo,
Ki
On or off the yoga mat, this is also me.
â˘
One of my amazing women in yoga teacher training looked at my Cabelaâs hat over the weekend, smiled and said âI love that.â I said, âWhy, because Iâm training yoga teachers in a Cabelaâs hat?â She laughed and said yes exactly, itâs why I love you.
â˘
This meant a lot to me, for more reasons than she probably realized. There was a time in my life where I tried to keep my worlds separate. My yoga world and the way I grew up. I love yoga, I love the lifestyle of yoga and the lessons it teaches me. I also love to s***t shoot, fly fish, sip on some good whiskey, and I kinda sorta cuss like a sailor... Iâve learned that no one gets to tell me who I am but myself.
â˘
The other day I played Lynyrd Skynyrd, Chris Stapleton, and Creedence Clearwater in a yoga class just because it made me happy.
â˘
This is your daily reminder that yoga is a practice and lifestyle for everyone, from all backgrounds, from all walks of life. All we have to do is get on our mat, breathe, and practice. Weâre all the same once we make it there.
â¨Intention of the Weekâ¨
â˘LIMITLESSâ˘
The only limitations we have are the ones we put on ourselves.
We canât control whatâs thrown at us, but we can control our strategy behind handling it.
â˘
We are capable of so much more than we give ourselves credit for.
Itâs easy to desire the finish line without the work.
Itâs easy to desire the reward without the struggle.
â˘
Our capacity to tolerate the challenges we face creates space for limitless potential.
Donât hold yourself back because itâs scary, because itâs unknown, because itâs hard.
â˘
You are limitless within the bounds of your own choices, mindset, and attitude.
â˘
â˘
â˘
Itâs Monday and Iâm wishing I was back in a Charlottesville for another week with and our amazing YTT group.
If you practice yoga with me, you know I love to read pieces of my poetry at the end, always anonymously, unless someone asks where to find it. A student recently asked, âWhatâs one of your favorite poems youâve ever written?â
Itâs been a while since Iâve read this one myself, but it made me smile today. â¨đ
â˘Sunflowerâ˘
October 26, 2016
Bright, bold, strong, sweet.
Beautiful to the naked eye.
Sweet and light along the edges,
dark and bold from within.
So deep within,
one might not catch it at first glance.
The strength of a sunflower;
comes not from its roots, but from its rich core.
A core so fierce and strong that it cannot resist the bold face of the sun.
The hot, enchanting sun smiles back,
as the scarred face of the warrior's spirit turns towards its beaming rays.
A fierce warrior with strength and fire in her core.
Often overlooked for her sweet, light exterior.
Oh, the sunflower.
The delicate, golden yellow petals,
often overshadow the fierce, strong core.
Lesson learned.
Never underestimate,
the power beyond those delicate, sweet, golden petals.
xoxo,
Ki

â˘FIGHTâ˘
Itâs not a matter of if, itâs a matter of when.
â˘
Itâs not a matter of why it happened, itâs a matter of how you choose to handle it.
â˘
Itâs not a matter of how long itâll last, itâs a matter of how long you will outlast it.
â˘
Itâs not a matter of how bad it hurts,
Itâs a matter of how strong you are.
â˘
Itâs not a matter of wishing luck was on your side,
Itâs a matter of making your own luck.
â˘
Itâs about standing back up every single time you donât think that you can.
â˘
â˘
â˘
your post the other day reminded me of all our awesome memories and photos, thanks for this one đ
I love these guys. Thanks for making me smile, thanks for filling my heart with joy, thanks for being so full of love every single time I see you guys. đđ Yoga with you is so so so much fun. I love every single one of you beautiful souls. đ
â¨Intention of the Weekâ¨
â˘Braveryâ˘
Brave soul,
You were created for greatness.
You were painted by angels to love and to hold the souls of yourself and others tenderly.
You were carved by warriors to fight and persevere through the fires of life within your own spirit and the worldâs too.
You might have been told once upon a time to play small but along the way you learned how to show up big.
You are fierce and tender,
You are loving and strong,
You are a Brave soul.
For some, Memorial Day is about celebrating. We often hear âHappy Memorial Dayâ but thatâs not right to me.
â˘
For me, itâs about remembering. Itâs about honoring. Itâs about recognizing all the selfless souls that fought, suffered, and died serving our country.
â˘
Half way through MURPH my coach said to me, âStay in your fight, Kiâ and thatâs what itâs all about. Itâs about never giving up in honor of those that weâve lost.
â˘
Memorial Day and every day is about taking a moment to recognize, respect, and remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
â˘
MURPH isnât just a workout. Itâs an opportunity to feel pain and keep fighting in honor of those who have felt way worse and fought way harder.
â˘
May we never forget what Memorial Day is really about. @ Crossfit HUI
â¨Intention of the weekâ¨
â˘Rootedâ˘
You can come home to a place,
You can come home to a person,
You can come home to a dream,
But ultimately you must learn to come home to yourself.
â˘
Strong roots keep growing, for I know this story is still being written.
Rested roots send me on my way, for I know the way back home.
â¨Intention of the weekâ¨
â˘show upâ˘
These guys show up so fully. 6:00 on a Monday morning, theyâre here, on their mats. Trying something new. Getting comfortable with being uncomfortable. Being open to trying something unfamiliar.
â˘
They inspire me. They make me laugh. They make me a better teacher and forever student. They show me what itâs like to show up, work hard, even when itâs not easy.
â˘
Thanks, guys. I appreciate the hell out of you.
â˘
â˘
â˘
â¨Intention of the weekâ¨
â˘RISEâ˘
Rise to the fear that brings you to your knees,
Rise to the challenge that stops you in your tracks.
â˘
Rise to the joy that fills your heart,
Rise to the purpose that fills your soul.
â˘
Rise to the uncertainty that keeps you up at night.
Rise to the pain that lives within your wounds and lingers in your scars.
â˘
Rise to the happiness that puts a smile on your face and laughter in your belly.
Rise to the opportunity that comes with a new day and a fresh start.
â˘
Rise to the grind of hard work and long hours.
Rise to the heat of trying over and over again.
â˘
Rise for the wins.
Rise for the losses.
Rise for it all.
â˘
Never stay down for long. Get back up. Rise again.
So this was a first today! :) Pressing up into a handstand has never been my goal, but after a week of amazing advanced yoga teacher training with Noah MazĂŠ Yoga I felt inspired to put my action, knowledge, and heart to the test and this came through me.
â˘
Weâve spent the week learning about Karma Yoga (action) JĂąÄna Yoga (knowledge) and Bhakti Yoga (heart). Soaking in all three, I feel empowered to take my practice mentally, physically, emotionally, and soulfully to new places.
â˘
A few of my favorite take aways from Noah MazĂŠ Yoga this week:
âThe Dharma field is the battle field. Whatâs the battle? The battle is your life. Stay in the game, stay on the field, stay in your life.â
â˘
âHow do you stay on the field, in your life, in the mess, in the heat? Stop waiting. Do the things you have to do to get the results. Life is full of occasions, rise to them, and do the thing.â
â˘
âWe can do the right things for the right reasons, but without heart there is no purpose.â
â˘
So many incredible nuggets of wisdom at the exact perfect time. Before knowing what this week was going to entail, I wrote something about putting your game face on and showing up for life. Our entire week has been the same lesson, cheers to synchronicity and alignment.
â˘
Thanks for an absolutely amazing module 3, Noah! đâ¤ď¸ We are so lucky to have you. This week has been absolutely incredible and I feel so grateful to learn from you, laugh with you, and experience yoga with you and who was dearly missed this week! đ and to all my amazing fellow teacher trainees on this journey with meâ love you guys, youâre amazing.

â¨Intention of the Weekâ¨
â˘Bendâ˘
We bend our bodies in movement,
we bend our minds in thought,
we bend our hearts in feelings,
and we bend our souls in truth.
â˘
We bend so we learn to catch ourselves when we fall.
We bend so that when things change we learn to adapt and move forward.
â˘
We bend just enough to honor others without losing ourselves in the process.
We bend so we can learn our own boundaries.
â˘
We bend so we can love stronger and braver.
We bend so we donât break.
In this moment, I am grateful. Grateful for the opportunity of a life time. Grateful for my job. Grateful for teaching. Grateful for yoga. Grateful for my people. Grateful for and our absolutely incredible yoga family. So. Much. Love.
Teaching sunrise yoga in Belize is officially my favorite. Feeling so grateful for this moment, for this life, for these people. Thank you thank you thank you. âď¸đâ¨

Thereâs something about the magic that happens when my soul speaks to me and it ends up in written words on a page in a favorite notebook. Listen. Reflect. Let your soul lead the way. And never hold back.
