I’m really pleased with this little medieval-ish (hopefully LOTR-ish?) belt pouch I made this weekend for a cosplay-loving friend. It will be filled with a few small surprises for a birthday treat. I drafted a simple pattern based on an example I saw to the size I wanted, and all materials were from my stash. The felt was originally going to be a toile, but it’s pretty sturdy sewn with embroidery floss and will be fine for occasional dressing up. The cord was done on a with cotton 4ply yarn. I do like the ingenious flap lock, which is copied from the example I based this on. All buttons and beads were from my button jar!

Late evening cap sewing… I used an excellent tutorial on sewinghistorically.com though I used my machine - no time for hand-sewing at the moment! We’ll see in the morning if it’s deep enough to come to the edge of her face. If not, I’ll add some lace.

It is Not Easy trying to take a picture of a black sweatshirt! But, here it is in all its cosy glory! I’m not sure I’m ever going to take it off… the is the Mile End Sweatshirt by Closet Core, view B with the waist tie. It’s a bit more cropped than I was expecting, but since I’d planned to wear it over a longer top that’s not a problem. The fabric is a very soft fleece backed sweatshirting from . The badge is an embroidered version of my logo, made by the amazing ! I love the sleeves - very roomy, and a bit cropped on me which is perfect as I’m always pulling my sleeves up anyway. I’m now off to plan one with a hood….

It’s all over but the buttons!! I took my time over this , aiming for well made instead of perfect. I’ve one bit of hand sewing to do to fix an oops on one cuff and the buttons to put on, but then the Girl’s main birthday present is finished! . The gorgeous fabric is from , a beautifully soft brushed cotton tartan called Ginny. The pattern is by , and I really recommend it - very clear instructions which made a daunting idea achievable. So pleased - I hope she is too!

Today’s job - of my pillow case. When I changed the sheets yesterday it ripped, as the fabric is getting thin from regular exposure to the face of a reasonably hirsute husband… I applied fusible interfacing to the wrong side, and covered it with a patch of well-loved fabric - which happens to be a bit of old pillow case - that won’t shrink in the wash. Then, because I didn’t want to interrupt the pattern in the fabric, I zigzagged over the tears in white thread. Should hold for a good while, though I may make sure it stays on my side of the bed, as I don’t actually sleep on my top pillow…
