CJ Man Faces Felony Weapons Charge & More after Shooting at Teenage Girl
A Cave Junction man faces a felony weapons charge accusing him of shooting more than two dozen rounds at a person he believed was a robber, but actually was his teenage neighbor practicing her driving on a shared driveway. The Mail Tribune reports 44-year-old Naham McCain Harris made his initial court appearance this week on a charge of Felony Unlawful Use of a Weapon alleging he fired his gun at a 15-year-old girl last weekend while she was practicing her driving at a residence in the 400-block of Ridge Vista Drive. When questioned by Josephine County sheriff's deputies, Harris allegedly admitted to firing his gun roughly 30 times at the girl. He told deputies he believed he was going to be robbed, so he shot at the vehicle trying to scare the robbers away. One of the bullets pierced the back window of the vehicle the girl was driving. A subsequent search warrant served on Harris' property looking for the weapon allegedly turned up a felony amount of processed ma*****na with the firearm. In searches last weekend, deputies said they found multiple fi****ms hidden in a nearby wooded area as well as $103,000 in cash. Naham Harris was being held in the Josephine County Jail on the weapons charge plus new charges of Menacing, Reckless Endangering and Unlawful Possession of Ma*****na. Authorities Investigating Break-In at Josephine County Food Bank West of GP
The Sheriff's Office is investigating a break-in that occurred this week at the Josephine County Food Bank west of Grants Pass. According to the Sheriff's Log, the forced entry into the Food Bank in the 3600-block of Upper River Road happened early Wednesday morning. Deputies said a gray 2007-2010 Ford Diesel 3/4-ton pickup containing three males, one female and a dog broke through the gate to the farm residence house and then proceeded to drive up Lathrop Creek by the Raptor Creek Garden until it was stopped by the farm manager who was out walking their dogs. The suspects indicated they were lost and tried to leave the property by barreling through possible exit routes. They drove to the far eastern part of the property and were confronted by farm staff. They gave obviously fake names and eventually left through the same gate they broke through. The damage estimate was around $100. Nothing was found to be stolen. The truck had no license plate, but it had a bumper sticker on the driver-side door that read, "Surrender the B***y." Better description of the truck and the suspects was pending review of security camera footage. Anyone with information in this case is encouraged to contact the Sheriff's Office at (541)-474-5123.
