Heartland Chapter, OK-2, Women Marines Association
The Heartland Chapter is one of many chapters across the nation that supports the mission of WMA They reach across all areas where there is a need.
The Women Marines Association was established in Denver, CO, in 1960 to ensure that our history as Marines would continue to be told and passed on to a new generation of Marines. Chapters and members across the nation work on community programs and support our military personnel, our veterans and their communities. This Heartland Chapter was founded in 1994.
With great sorrow the OK-2 Chapter announces the passing of a charter member of the chapter, Mary Louise Glann.

Remembering the life of Joan E. Willauer 1923 - 2022 Joan E. Willauer passed away 2022-5-21 in Norman, Oklahoma. This is the full obituary story where you can express condolences and share memories. Services by John M Ireland Funeral Home.
OK-2 has lost another WWII WR. Joan Willauer transferred to her last duty station on Saturday, May 21.
Joan was always smiling, and she would always be the first to volunteer.
In December 1943, she enlisted in the Marines. Joan went to Boot Camp at Camp LeJeune. Her first duty assignment was Cherry Point, NC, where she worked in the supply section. She met her future husband Edward Willauer there. They married at Camp Pendleton in 1947. They eventually had 8 children, 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren (and one on the way), but lost a son and daughter.
Joan was discharged in 1946.
After he was discharged, Ed became a firefighter in Madison, WI, where he had a 30-year career. They eventually moved to Norman with their son, Ed Jr. Ed has been a very devoted son, driving Joan to meetings and events when the time came for her to give up her car keys, and taking care of her when her health took a downward turn. Ed Sr passed away in 2001.
Joan was a one-of-a-kind gem and will NOT be forgotten.
Semper Fidelis, Joan.
The awesome lady in the red shirt was one of our "Greatest Generation", one of the first few ladies to serve as an U.S. Marine, a wonderful lady with a sassy sense of humor and a sister in arms. The Supreme Commander has call her to his service, and all of us who knew and loved her have lost not just a sister, a fellow Marine, but one of the sweetest ladies we knew..Rest in Peace, Joanie. Semper Fi, and we have the watch.
- Denice Young, Headquarters President

It is with a heavy heart that I post the passing of former chapter member Grace Miltenberger-Meyers on 30 Dec 2020. A Korean era Marine, Grace was 100% Marine, and she wouldn't hesitate to let you know it! She was very proud of her service. Grace spent a great deal of her time with the MCL, but she was a member of WMA.
Semper Fidelis, Marine.
