Bespoke Welsh Artwork by young Welsh artist Caitlin Eve

Paint this little turquoise building with me.
Although l've made lots more progress on the Tenby painting since these photos, they were lost in my photo album. You would not believe how many photos of paintings I have; things get lost very easily, and I forget to post them. Talk about making content, how about making content and then having to remember to post it?😅

I’ve officially spent 30 hours working on this painting. From what I can remember, I’ve only ever worked on four other paintings of this size. The first was for my art project in college, the second was a simplistic seascape that found its forever home in Lockdown, and another was of Aberavon beach, painted in aid of The Survivors Trust. If you’ve been here a while, you’ll know I love painting small. Being a part-time artist, painting small means I can start and finish projects while keeping up with studying for my degree in English. But this large canvas had been sitting in my studio(s) for over two years, and one night I decided on a whim that it was time to finally paint something on it. After an hour and a half of sketching out Tenby on the canvas I’m now 30 hours in, and as I come to the end of painting the buildings I’m starting to get scared that I might mess it up when it comes to the bottom half of the painting. But we’ll have to see. It’s such a shock to the system working on something that’s taking so long to get done, but I am honestly loving every minute of it, and I think I’m going to buy another big canvas as soon as this one is finished. The only downside is feeling like I need to be finishing work on the side to share with you all (Instagram will do that to you🤦🏻‍♀️) but I hope you’re all enjoying seeing this slowly come together, and baring with my while I don’t have that much to post…Cait x😊

The perks of painting small aren't what you might expect…

I love it because it allows me to complete projects alongside my other commitments. But my favorite aspect? When I paint small, like with this Worms Head piece, revisiting the location feels like encountering its huge scale for the first time all over again. Those tiny 5cm pieces of wood make me truly appreciate the vastness of these places. 🎨🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

As a self proclaimed book worm it was about time this happened… new project underway 🥰📚

The colourful town comes alive with blossoms as you meander through its charming streets, breathing in the fresh sea air. Treating yourself to a scoop of delicious ice cream by the beach, with the cold waves in the background.

🎡 Excited about the new Mumbles Big Wheel!

I've seen it all lit up in the dark from Aberavon Beach, and it's a pretty sight! Admittedly, my last big wheel ride was back in 2019 at Winter Wonderland, and that was enough adventure for me! 😅 Not sure if I fancy riding the big wheel next to that sea wind, but I'm considering summoning the courage for the views.

Have you been on the big wheel yet? Are you going to? Let me know below. ⬇️

Curious to see what 22 hours of painting looks like?

Painting on this scale is a bit of a shock to the system, as I usually prefer smaller works that I can finish in between studying. It's been challenging to find time for this Tenby painting, but it's coming along nicely. As someone who never wanted to tackle all those buildings, I'm loving every minute of this work in progress. 🎨

Originally built in the 12th century it is one of over 600 castles in Wales.

In the name of spring, I’m hoping to fill the foreground of this painting with some vibrant colourful blooms. 🌷

The painting vs the inspiration.

When I took this picture on a windy day down Aberavon in June 2022 I knew I would have to paint it, this little painting found its forever home at the end of last year. 🤍

Photos from Caitlin Eve Artist's post 26/02/2024

In 2021 I picked up the keys to my first studio.

After lockdown, my own space was exactly what I needed and I worked on some of my favourite projects here. And you bet studio no.10 was the cutest with my bunting across the ceiling and fairy lights on the walls. 🥰😅

This week, we've explored some of my Robin paintings and looked into the process of creating them last winter.

The three remaining pieces on my website, patiently waiting to find their forever home. 🤍

As an artist, finding joy in painting small has been a constant. There's a sense of accomplishment in completing a piece in a shorter timeframe with less room to work with, especially when it comes to these little wood-slices!

Beyond being tiny works of art, these Robin paintings are unique and perfect for gifting. They are budget-friendly compared to larger artworks and come ready to hang, making them a convenient addition to any space. Personally, I like to display mine on my Welsh dresser.

So, whether you're searching for a one-of-a-kind gift or a charming addition to your home, these little Robins are waiting for you on my website.

Earlier this week I shared one of my winter robins with you all and today I thought I’d share some of the work in progress photos that I took whilst working on my little robins.

There was something so calming about bringing these little creatures to life on my little wood-slices. I always find myself wanting to create more animal-inspired pieces each year. It's a resolution that never gets old, I guess. Maybe 2024 will be the year I get around to it, Haha.

My collection of robins, each one with its own personality, is waiting for you on my website.

When robins appear, a loved one is near. So, who knows? One of these little fellows might just bring a smile to your face, or remind you of someone special.

Before spring takes over let’s spend the week looking at some of my winter Robin paintings.

The first robin I'm sharing is a unique acrylic painting on a tiny wood slice, I’ll forever love painting small.

Recently, I've set up a bird feeding station in my garden, I’d love to create some new bird paintings this year. Stay tuned!

This week, we've looked through my floral wood-slice paintings, as a reminder that Spring is on its way, it’s my favourite season by far!

As we wrap up this week, let's take a look at the final ornament- a delicate bunch of forget-me-nots. These tiny blue blooms symbolize the beauty of memories and the promise of future joy. Do they remind you of someone special?

A fun fact to share - I gifted my mother a forget-me-not flower bomb for Christmas and I can’t wait to see them bloom in the garden this year. Here's to the longer and sunnier days to come! 🦋

07/02/2024

Here's a fresh bloom to brighten your day! 🌼

Earlier this week, I shared my Daisy wood-slice as a reminder that Spring is just around the corner. Today, I'm excited to highlight another floral ornament - the beautiful Lilly of the Valley.

The process of painting this delicate flower was incredibly enjoyable. The colours work together seamlessly in this one.

Like all my original ornaments, this one is an ideal choice for those looking to infuse a hint of Spring into their homes. The beauty of it? It doesn't require lots of space to be displayed!

So, why wait for Spring when you can welcome it into your home today? 🌸

If you’re like me then you’re probably patiently waiting for Spring to arrive, so I thought this week would be a great time to share my floral paintings with you all.

Starting with this charming acrylic painting of a daisy and playful bumblebee on wood. This original painting is an ideal choice for those wanting to introduce a little reminder of Spring into their home without stretching the budget.

I love painting these miniature works of art, fills me with immense happiness, even though my hand does start to cramp up after a while haha.

About

I am a UK based artist from South Wales, I have completed UAL level three diploma in art and design. For as long as I can remember I have expressed myself through the medium of art, especially when I was young I spent all of my time experimenting and making, it was about having fun and creating something I could put up on my bedroom wall and be proud of, and for me art is still about having fun and letting go. I paint to make myself happy, and I paint to show others how art can have such a positive impact on our well-being, my goal is to fill my life with colour and add some colour to others lives.
