In the sense that corporations control the outcome of our elections, and dictate the agenda of the government, the only possible answer to this question is an emphatic “yes”…the United States Government is as a matter of fact, a Fascist state.
From the most basic local offices, up to the offices of the Federal Government, corporations and wealthy individuals, fund the campaigns of favored candidates. There may be a few isolated exceptions from time to time, but generally, whoever has the fattest campaign “war chest”, manages to win. What this means is that corporate money usually determines the outcome of our elections. And when you consider that the corporations back the candidates from both establishment parties, regardless of the outcome of the election, the corporations always have influence over the “winners”.
And nowhere is the more evident, than on the Federal level. It costs enormous amounts of money to run an effective campaign for national office, and regardless of party affiliation, if an establishment candidate “wins”, which is almost always the case, there will be a few faithful corporate donors who expect their generosity to be repaid.
The corporate donors are never disappointed.
We know from extensive, hard, evidence, that tax cut policies actually damage the economy. They never have a positive economic effect, and in any case, it is absolutely impossible for any temporary “boost” in the economy that tax cuts might have, to offset the enormous and ongoing damage that the deficit spending they require, creates. Yet every Republican president in the last 40 years has enacted tax cuts for the rich, and the corporations, and every Democratic administration during that time has allowed them to stand.
There should be absolutely no doubt in the mind of any thinking person, who is in charge of designing economic policy. It is the corporations. And they always get whatever they want, because the politicians they helped to elect, are paying them back for their largess.
The People have practically no influence at all on our government. We do not live in a “democracy
