Common Yellowthroat ~ Missing his song in this cold weather. Summer will come again and will bring back this beauty with it.

Mama is not happy! This was her 'encouraging' him to fight another pair of bluebirds plus a pair of tree swallows that were trying to take the nest box from them. This pair won the battle.

Please keep Yellowstone National Park, California and other Western states that are currently battling wildfires. Nearly 700 acres are burning in Yellowstone near Old Faithful. I think of the animals that I photographed during our visits. Some of the small ones won't be able to escape the flames. The animals that live there & the beauty of this place is irreplaceable.
In celebration of World Photography Day, here is one of the reasons I chose photography as a way to experience special moments in nature. Capturing glimpses of an animal's life like these two in Yellowstone National Park and freezing time forever is priceless to me. I will always wonder about them and if or how long they survive the harsh land they call home. They touched my very soul for an instant and for that I am so thankful. ~ GLD
This young elk knows where to go for a safe nap away from predators. She was napping in the yard of Yellowstone National Park Headquarters at Mammoth.
I realize this is not a great photo. However, it was cropped down to less than an inch of the original shot and the only proof I have of actually photographing a gray wolf in the wild. This is a young gray wolf of the Junction Butte Pack in Yellowstone National Park. He was approximately 400 - 500 yards away from us. We were thrilled to actually witness a wild wolf in it's natural habitat!
Not a lens wide enough to capture the majesty and beauty of Grand Teton National Park! The mountains are tall and steep and awe inspiring. Y’all we don’t have mountains in Tennessee!
This is how we roll in Yellowstone. The animals are the kings and queens of the roads as well as the entire park. The park is for them and we are their guests. It is one of the most amazingly beautiful places I’ve ever seen! (photo taken from the safety of our RV)
